In a case where a result of the character recognition processing by the character recognition unit does not satisfy a predetermined condition, the transmission unit does not transmit the image data until the reception unit receives the instruction from the user. In a case where the result of the character recognition processing by the character recognition unit satisfies the predetermined condition, the transmission unit transmits the image data without receiving the instruction from the user by the reception unit.

A document reading apparatus including: a detector configured to detect presence of a document on a document tray; a conveyance unit configured to convey the document; a reading unit configured to read the document conveyed by the conveyance unit at a first position; and a reference member. When the detector detects the presence of a document, the reading unit reads the reference member to determine a shading correction value while being moved from a second position to a third position located between the first position and the second position. When the shading correction value is to be determined again in a period from when the shading correction value is determined until when a receiver receives an instruction to start reading, the reading unit reads the reference member while being moved from the second position toward the first position after having been moved from the third position to the second position.

A document reading apparatus including: a detector configured to detect presence of a document on a document tray; a conveyance unit configured to convey the document; a reading unit configured to read the document conveyed by the conveyance unit at a first position; and a reference member. When the detector detects the presence of a document, the reading unit reads the reference member to determine a shading correction value while being moved from a second position to a third position located between the first position and the second position. When the shading correction value is to be determined again in a period from when the shading correction value is determined until when a receiver receives an instruction to start reading, the reading unit reads the reference member while being moved from the second position toward the first position after having been moved from the third position to the second position.

An image processing apparatus includes a light source, an image sensor, and an invisible component remover. The light source emits visible component light and invisible component light to a target object. The image sensor receives reflected light from the target object to detect a visible invisible mixture image including an invisible component and a visible component and an invisible image including an invisible component. The invisible component remover, based on the visible invisible mixture image and the invisible image which have been detected, removes the invisible component from the visible invisible mixture image to generate a visible image. The invisible component remover includes a removal calculator performing a removal calculation process of an invisible component with respect to the visible invisible mixture image, and a noise reducer performing a noise reduction process on at least one of images to be input to and output from the removal calculator.

A document reading device includes an image reading part, a document conveying part, an operation display part, an overlap detecting part and a controlling part. The overlap detecting part detects overlap of a document conveyed to the image reading part. When the overlap detecting part detects the overlap, if an overlap image corresponding to the overlap in the image data obtained by the image reading part matches with a predetermined preservation image, the controlling part decides that the overlap is not double feed to continue the scanning operation. If the overlap image does not match with the predetermined preservation image, the controlling part decides that the overlap is the double feed, stops the scanning operation, and, if user judgement that the overlap is not the double feed is inputted in accordance with operation of the operation display part, stores the preservation image on the basis of the overlap image.

An information processing system includes a service providing system and an apparatus that mutually communicate via a network. The service providing system includes a processing method storage configured to register a processing method in association with identification information of output data; and a first communicator that transmits, to the apparatus, the output data to which the identification information is appended. The apparatus includes an outputter that outputs the output data received from the service providing system together with the identification information; an inputter that accepts input of input data based on the output data output by the outputter; and a second communicator that transmits, to the service providing system, the input data input by the inputter, to which the identification information is appended. The service providing system performs a process on the input data by the processing method associated with the identification information appended to the input data.

An image reading apparatus includes a transport unit which transports a document, and reading units which read an image of the document which is transported. It is assumed that an operation of reading an image when specific setting information is not input to a control device of the image reading apparatus is set to a first reading mode, and an operation of reading an image when specific setting information is input to the control device is set to a second reading mode. In this case, in the second reading mode, image data of an image with a resolution which is equal to that in the first reading mode is generated, while causing the reading units to read an image from a document which is transported by the transport device at a lower speed than that in the first reading mode.

To provide an image reading apparatus capable of informing a user of the status of the image reading apparatus in a form understandable to the user without increasing a size or a cost, a control method of the image reading apparatus, and a program, explanatory image data is transmitted to a host computer instead of document image data in a case where an abnormality in the image reading apparatus is detected.

A document size detecting apparatus includes a first acquisition unit, a second acquisition unit, and a detector. The first acquisition unit acquires a first image that is an image of an entire document as a reading target. The second acquisition unit acquires a second image that is an image of a part of the document read by a first reading apparatus. The detector detects a size of the document using a result of a matching process between the first image and the second image and a read size that is a size of the second image read by the first reading apparatus.
