The present disclosure is directed to, during execution of a copy job for which a binding process setting is not set, detecting that a conveyed document is bound and allowing a user to perform the binding process setting before the copy job is executed again. A control method for controlling an image forming apparatus includes conveying a document placed on a document tray, reading an image on the conveyed document, printing the read image on a sheet, and binding the sheet on which the image is printed, and further includes detecting that the conveyed document is a bound document, according to the detection, suspending the conveyance of the document, and displaying a screen for prompting a user to start reading of the document of which the conveyance is suspended, wherein the screen is a screen capable of receiving a setting of a binding process to be executed.

A system and method for scanning two or more documents into a single scan file includes a multifunction peripheral having an intelligent controller including a processor and associated memory. A scanner of the multifunction peripheral includes first and second document feed modes. A user interface includes a display, such as a touchscreen display. A first sensor detects a presence of a first tangible document in the first feed mode. A second sensor detects a second document in the second feed mode. The controller enables the first feed mode to complete a first scan operation and generates a digital image file comprising images of the first document. The controller generates a prompt on the display for a selection of a continued scan operation. If selected, the second feed mode completes a second scan operation on the second document and generates the digital image file to include images of the second document.

An image forming apparatus that is capable of obtaining a booklet of a correct opening direction. A reading unit reads a spread of an original and generates image data of a plurality of pages. A first receiving unit receives an opening direction of the original from a user as a setting about reading of the original. A storage unit stores the image data of the plurality of pages in association with information showing the opening direction that the first receiving unit receives. A second receiving unit receives an opening direction of printed matter from the user as a setting about printing of the image data stored in the storage unit. An indication unit indicates the opening direction that the information stored in the storage shows to the user when the second receiving unit receives the opening direction of the printed matter.

An image reading apparatus includes a scanner configured to read an image from a manuscript, and a controller. The controller is configured to: output a template for inputting e-mail setting information including at least a destination; acquire the e-mail setting information included in an e-mail setting file from a storage apparatus in which the e-mail setting file is stored; and transmit image data read by the scanner to the destination included in the acquired e-mail setting information. The e-mail setting file is prepared by inputting the e-mail setting information into the template outputted. The storage apparatus has an area corresponding to user information, and the e-mail setting file is stored in the area corresponding to the user information of the storage apparatus. The controller accesses the e-mail setting file stored in the area corresponding to the user information by utilizing the user information.

In accordance with an embodiment, an image processing apparatus includes an image reading section configured to read an original document and generate image data, the image data corresponding to the original document or a part of the original document. The image processing apparatus further comprises a control panel including a document area for displaying a plurality of images, the plurality of images including an image which corresponds to the image data. The control panel is configured to receive input designating the image corresponding to the image data and at least one other image from the plurality of images. The image processing apparatus also includes a controller, which in response to a user instruction, generates an aggregation image including the image corresponding to the image data and the at least one other image from the plurality of images.

An image reading apparatus includes a tray, first sensors configured to acquire information related to a maximum size of sheets placed on the tray, a scanner configured to generate first image data for each of the sheets conveyed from the tray based on the maximum size, a sheet conveyor configured to convey the sheets placed on the tray toward the scanner, second sensors configured to acquire information related to an actual size of each of the sheets conveyed by the sheet conveyor, and a controller. The controller converts for each of the sheets having an actual size that is different from the maximum size, the first image data stored in a first memory region into second image data based on the maximum size and the actual size of the sheet, and stores the second image data in a second memory region which is different from the first memory region.

An image reading apparatus includes a transport unit which transports a document, and reading units which read an image of the document which is transported. It is assumed that an operation of reading an image when specific setting information is not input to a control device of the image reading apparatus is set to a first reading mode, and an operation of reading an image when specific setting information is input to the control device is set to a second reading mode. In this case, in the second reading mode, image data of an image with a resolution which is equal to that in the first reading mode is generated, while causing the reading units to read an image from a document which is transported by the transport device at a lower speed than that in the first reading mode.

A system of automatically naming an electronic document may include a scanning device. The system may receive a physical document that is to be converted into an electronic document, perform optical character recognition on at least a portion of the physical document to identify one or more terms that are present in the physical document, and store the identified terms in the data store associated with the scanning device. The system may receive input from a user that includes one or more first characters and corresponds to a title of the electronic document. The system may identify one or more terms from the data store that correspond to the one or more first characters by querying the data store using the received input, and cause the identified terms to be displayed to the user via a display device of the scanning device as suggested document names for the electronic document.

An image reading apparatus includes a conveyor configured to convey an original, a reader configured to read the original conveyed by the conveyor, a detector configured to detect an abnormal image generated in a read image of the original obtained by the reader, a correction processor configured to correct the abnormal image, an operation unit configured to receive a setting of an operation mode set by a user, and a controller. The controller is configured to, in a case where the detector detects the abnormal image, control the correction processor to correct the abnormal image in a case in which a first operation mode of continuing image reading is set, and stop conveyance of the original performed by the conveyor and give a notification of generation of the abnormal image in a case in which a second operation mode of interrupting the image reading is set.
