In a preferred aspect of the present invention, manuscript image data is analyzed, and a feature amount to be used for specifying a positional relationship between the manuscript image data and read image data of a printed material read by a reading unit that performs reading of the printed material on which an image is printed on the basis of the manuscript image data, is detected. At least one or more areas including the feature amount in the manuscript image data is set as a reading area. A setting position of the printed material with respect to the reading unit is displayed on the basis of a result of the setting of the reading area. Reading of the printed material set in the reading unit is performed after the setting position is displayed by a display unit.

An image processing apparatus includes a character recognition unit configured to perform character recognition processing for recognizing a character string included in image data, a transmission unit configured to transmit the image data to store the image data in a folder including a name containing the character string acquired by the character recognition processing, and a reception unit configured to receive an instruction from a user. In a case where a result of the character recognition processing by the character recognition unit does not satisfy a predetermined condition, the transmission unit does not transmit the image data until the reception unit receives the instruction from the user. In a case where the result of the character recognition processing by the character recognition unit satisfies the predetermined condition, the transmission unit transmits the image data without receiving the instruction from the user by the reception unit.

In a preferred aspect of the present invention, manuscript image data is analyzed, and a feature amount to be used for specifying a positional relationship between the manuscript image data and read image data of a printed material read by a reading unit that performs reading of the printed material on which an image is printed on the basis of the manuscript image data, is detected. At least one or more areas including the feature amount in the manuscript image data is set as a reading area. A setting position of the printed material with respect to the reading unit is displayed on the basis of a result of the setting of the reading area. When acquired information contains setting information indicating to output first format file, a first output process is executed, wherein a reading process is performed and an inquiry is executed as to whether to continue reading. An image forming apparatus includes a document reader, a storage for storing image data, an image output unit and a control unit. The control unit includes: a function setup controller for setting up the image output conditions of output images; and a control-unit side controller having a function of displaying a function setup screen corresponding to the function setup controller, on a display panel. The function setup controller has an additional input mode having a function of reading documents a multiple number of times to form multiple sheaves of documents. The additional input mode includes: an individual setup function of setting up individual image output conditions for each sheaf of documents and an all-in setup function of setting up identical image output conditions for all sheaves of documents. When the additional input mode is set up, the control unit-side controller offers a display of a setup change suggestion of the image output conditions for the next input on the display screen at the stage where the first image data input has been completed.

An image reading apparatus comprising: an original reading unit configured to read an image of each of multiple originals placed on an original table in batch by a batch-scan; a cropping unit configured to crop an image of each original from an entire image which is read by the batch-scan; an image output unit configured to output a cropped image of each original; and a control unit configured to control the original reading unit, the cropping unit, and the image output unit, wherein the control unit is capable of selectively executing: an inversion multi-crop process in which an image density of an edge of each original is supposed to be higher than an image density of a reading-area outside of the original, and an area to be cropped is determined on the basis of a difference in the image density between the edge and the reading-area outside of the original; and a non-inversion multi-crop process in which an image density of an edge of each original is supposed to be lower than an image density of a reading-area outside of the original, and an area to be cropped is determined on the basis of a difference in the image density between the edge and the reading-area outside of the original.
