In a case where a result of the character recognition processing by the character recognition unit does not satisfy a predetermined condition, the transmission unit does not transmit the image data until the reception unit receives the instruction from the user. In a case where the result of the character recognition processing by the character recognition unit satisfies the predetermined condition, the transmission unit transmits the image data without receiving the instruction from the user by the reception unit.

An information processing apparatus includes a processor configured to: acquire a read image and item information, the read image being an image obtained by reading a paper medium including plural documents, the item information being information of plural items specified by a user from among plural items contained in the documents; extract plural character strings from the read image, each character string being associated with the corresponding one of the items included in the item information; in response to extracting the character strings associated with the item information from the read image, set a split position, the split position being a position at which to split out a portion of the read image as a set of documents, the portion being a portion of the read image from a page where the extracting has begun to a page containing the last extracted character string; and output the read image split in accordance with the split position.

A reading unit is configured to capture an image of a shadow generated at a leading end of a document, and a control unit is configured to estimate a thickness of the document based on a pixel value of the shadow. A multifeeding error is displayed on a display unit when it is determined as thin paper in a thick paper determination. The control unit turns multifeeding detection to OFF and stands by until a feeding is completed, and upon completion, returns the multifeeding detection to ON.

An image reading system includes a server device and a first scanner communicably connected to the server device. The server device includes a distributed scanning storage unit that stores distributed scanning setting information defining a setting item of distributed scanning and including identification information. The first scanner includes a first receiver that receives, from a user, a command that includes the identification information and is a command to perform the distributed scanning, a first acquirer that acquires the distributed scanning setting information from the server device when the first receiver receives the command to perform the distributed scanning, a first reader that reads a first document sheet stack to generate first read data based on the distributed scanning setting information, and a first transmitter that transmits the first read data to the server device.

An image forming apparatus that is capable of wireless communication with an operation device and that can be operated by the operation device via the wireless communication, the image forming apparatus comprising: an image forming unit configured to perform image formation on a sheet based on a print execution instruction sent from the operation device via the wireless communication; a reading unit configured to perform reading of an image formed on the sheet based on a scan execution instruction sent from the operation device via the wireless communication; and a controller that, during a period of time from the time one user logs in the image forming apparatus until the user logs out, (1) is configured to prohibit the print execution instruction using an operation device by other user who has logged in using the operation device, and (2) is configured to permit the scan execution instruction using the operation device.

An information processing system is connected to a first external device via a network. A non-transitory storage medium stores a program set readable by a computer of a first information processing apparatus. The program set including a first program and a second program. The first program causes the first information processing apparatus to start the second program, and register the started second program, as a virtual scanner, in an operating system of the first information processing apparatus. The second program causes the first information processing apparatus to transmit a scan command of the first protocol to the external scanner, and receive a read result from the external scanner by the first protocol through the communication interface. The external scanner reads a document in response to receipt of the scan command transmitted from the information processing apparatus.

Embodiments of the present disclosure provide an image processing apparatus comprising: a reader that reads an image from a document; a projection unit that projects an image; a printer that prints an image onto a sheet; an operation unit that accepts a first instruction for the projection unit to project the image read by the reader and a second instruction for the printer to print the image projected by the projection unit; and a control unit, wherein in a case where the first instruction is accepted by the operation unit, the control unit causes the projection unit to project the image read by the reader, and in a case where the second instruction is accepted by the operation unit, the control unit causes the printer to print the image being projected by the projection unit.
