An image processing method includes correcting a show-through of a document image, and setting a document type, wherein a correction amount for the document image is changed based on the set document type.

There is provided a document processing device for processing document data, and the document processing device includes a hardware processor that: acquires document data including a plurality of pieces of page data; specifies, from the document data, a common object existing at a corresponding position over a predetermined number of pieces or more of page data; and removes, when a common object is specified, the specified common object from each of the plurality of pieces of page data.

An imaging assembly for capturing at least one object appearing in a field of view (FOV) is provided that includes an image capturing system, a controller operatively coupled to the image capturing system to control operation thereof, and a processor operatively coupled to the controller. The image capturing system is adapted to capture an image having at least one sub-frame and is further adapted to obtain distance information of the object. The processor analyzes the image to determine a brightness value of at least a portion of the image and analyzes the distance information of the object to determine a distance value from the imaging assembly to the object. The processor further determines an illumination characteristic based on the brightness value and the distance value.

An information processing apparatus includes a processor. The processor is configured to receive an image of a document; extract first information and second information from information image printed on the document, the first information being related to writing on the document by a user, the second information indicating a position and a size of an area into which the first information is to be combined with the image of the document; and perform control to ensure the area indicated by the second information so that the area does not overlap a printed portion in the document and to combine the first information into the area.

An image reading apparatus includes: an image reading device that reads a document and an area outside the document as an image; a background color plate that is read by the image reading device in the area outside the document; a document area decision device that determines a boundary between the document and background on the basis of a density difference or a color difference between the document and the background color plate in the read image, so as to decide a document area; and an image cropping device that crops a document image from the image on the basis of the document area. In the case where both of front and back sides of the document are read and the document area of one of the sides cannot be decided, the document area decision device applies the document area of the other side.

A first document sheet end detection portion, in a case where the thickness of the document sheet is equal to or greater than a threshold value, identifies a peripheral edge shape of the document sheet by detecting a shadow portion that occurs at a peripheral edge portion of the document sheet in the original image. A second document end detection portion, in a case where the thickness of the document sheet is less than a threshold value, identifies the peripheral edge shape based on a specification by the user. A document sheet size determination portion determines a size of the document sheet according to a result of shape identification by the first document sheet end detection portion or a result of shape identification by the second document sheet end detection portion.

An image processing apparatus includes a print setting acquisition unit configured to acquire a print paper size, a threshold setting unit configured to set, based on the print paper size, a threshold for a protruding portion of a print product, the protruding portion protruding from a reading range, an image acquisition unit configured to acquire a scanned image of the print product, a detection unit configured to detect the protruding portion from the scanned image, and a conveyance displacement abnormality detection unit configured to detect conveyance displacement abnormality from the threshold and a result of the detection.

An image-reading apparatus includes a housing having a rectangular-shaped opening on a side of a reading target, a lens portion retained or housed within the housing, and a sensor element to receive light condensed by the lens portion, the light being from the reading target. An image reading apparatus includes a reader configured to read an image, and a movable member that is movable when the reader is not reading the image, and configured to move within a region where a fixed member fixed above the reader is not present on a movement trajectory of the movable member.

An image reading apparatus acquires first control data regarding generation of first rectangular image data that includes a whole of a document area corresponding to a document within a reading area of read image data. The image reading apparatus acquires second control data regarding generation of second rectangular image data that does not include a background area not corresponding to the document within the reading area of the read image data and includes at least a part of the document area.
