Embodiments of the invention include systems, methods, and computer-program products for digitizing and processing transmission of a physical resource document from an issuer to a user and from a user to a processing institution for real-time posting of physical resource documents. In this way, the invention processes a physical resource document into an image format at the issuer and transmits a secure digital image file to the user. The image format is processed and digitized for resource processing. Upon user receipt, the system validates the resource distribution. Upon validation the system allows for processing the resource document and the resource distribution from that document as a digital real-time payment.

The embodiments present a new class of content masking attacks against the Portable Document Format (PDF) standard. The attacks cause documents to appear different than the underlying content extracted from the documents by information-based services. The first attack allows academic paper writers and reviewers to collude via subverting the automatic reviewer assignment systems in current use by academic conferences. The second attack renders plagiarism detection software ineffective, targeting specific small plagiarism similarity scores to appear natural and evade detection. The final attack places masked content into the indexes for various search engines, which renders as information entirely different from the keywords used to locate it. The final attack enables spam, profane, or possibly illegal content to go unnoticed by these search engines but still be returned in search results.

An image processing apparatus includes a request processing part and a determination part. The request processing part processes a verification request for image data from a terminal. The determination part determines whether or not the image data for which verification has been requested is restricted image data whose duplication and storage have been restricted. The request processing part instructs an apparatus that stores the image data for which the verification has been requested to delete the image data for which the verification has been requested when the image data for which the verification has been requested is the restricted image data.

An image processing apparatus including a processor that performs: compressing target data for printing; decompressing the compressed target data; and when the resolution of the uncompressed target data is higher than the resolution of low-resolution data included in the compressed target data, generating sample data by decompressing only the low-resolution data, the sample data to be used for a process of detecting data of a particular image from the target data.

A system and method are provided for implementing control of the 3D printing of an object by a 3D printer. The method includes providing 3D printing apparatus comprising a controller and a 3D printing module. A digital print file (DPF) representative of the object to be printed, including layer by layer information, is provided to the printing apparatus and to the controller, details of objects pre-defined as subject to printing control are also provided to the controller. The digital print file is processed to provide a representation of the object to be printed which is then interrogated to determine whether there a possible match between the features of the object to be printed and features of an object predefined as subject to print control. Printing is interrupted if it is indicated that the object to be printed has been determined to show a possible match to features to an object pre-defined as subject to print control.

An information processing apparatus includes a setting unit, a detector and a controller. The setting unit sets setting information associating a registered image obtained by reading an image with control information indicating whether input image data is to be stored or not. The detector detects the registered image from the input image data. The controller controls whether or not the input image data including the registered image is stored in a storage based on the setting information.

Systems and methods are described that protect intellectual property rights in connection with 3-dimensional printing processes. In certain embodiments, an object a user would like to render with a 3-dimensional printing device may be compared with one or more managed objects having certain associated intellectual property rights. If the object is found to be similar to a managed object (e.g., similar in shape, function, composition, etc.), policy associated with the managed object may be enforced in connection with rendering the object. In this manner, intellectual property rights associated with the managed objects may be enforced.

A multifunction peripheral includes a processor and a memory storing boundary data defining a boundary between allowable and prohibited document processing jobs. The processor receives a document processing job and analyzes it relative to boundary data stored in the memory. The processor selectively performs the document processing job in accordance with analysis of the received document processing job relative to the boundary data. The boundary data defines what is acceptable or unacceptable for a document processing operation. The boundary data is determined via machine learning applied to analysis of document content, document metadata, rules or policies.
