An image output method includes capturing an image of code pattern including device information specifying an image output device, obtaining the device information from the image of code pattern, obtaining user information specifying a user, and outputting the device information and the user information to an external device, by an information processing device; authenticating the user based on the user information, by a processor; executing image output processing instructed by the user authenticated based on the user information, by the image output device specified based on the device information; transmitting a result of the image output processing by the image output device to the information processing device, by the image output device; and displaying the result of the image output processing by the information processing device.

The system and method includes generating, by a printer driver comprised in the user device, a user interface comprising features supported by a plurality of printing devices. Further, it includes receiving via the user device over the network, a print instruction comprising the features supported by the plurality of printing devices connected to the computer system over the network. And based on the print instruction, generating a print job in an embodiment. Further, based on the user authentication at one of the plurality of printing devices, converting via a gateway, the received print instruction into a format compatible with that printing device and releasing the generated print job for printing at that printing device, according to an embodiment.

An image forming apparatus and a method of controlling the same, wherein stored user information is referenced to perform authentication of a user based on accepted user information, and the user is allowed to confirm whether or not to reset the user information of the user when authentication of the user fails. The user is caused to select a reset method for resetting the user information of the user in accordance with the confirmation, and reset the stored user information of the user in accordance with the selected reset method.

An information apparatus that wirelessly discovers an available output device, within a physical vicinity, for outputting content is herein disclosed and enabled. The information apparatus includes a wireless communication unit for establishing short range wireless communication directly between the information apparatus and one or more available output devices; wirelessly receiving information from an available output device; determining, from the information received from the available output device, whether the available output device matches a requirement for outputting the content; and, when the requirement is matched, selecting the available output device, conforming at least part of the content into output data, and transmitting at least part of the output data over the short range wireless communication directly from the information apparatus to the selected output device. The information apparatus may include one or more of a smart phone, information pad, a digital camera, or an Internet appliance.

A method, a computer program product, and a system are disclosed, which use OAuth2 to secure IPv6 Neighbor Discovery. The method including sending a Neighbor Discovery duplicate address detection (DAD) package from a client device on a communication network, the Neighbor Discovery DAD package having an authorization code for an OAuth2 token for access to an IPv6 network; receiving the Neighbor Discovery DAD package with the authorization code on an authorizing device, the authorizing device configured to issue OAuth2 tokens; issuing the OAuth2 token having an expiration to the client device for access to the IPv6 network; and allowing the client device to access the IPv6 network until the expiration of the OAuth2 token.

In one example, a method is described, in which a geographic location of an electronic device may be determined. Further, a region code may be read from a device component installed in the electronic device. Furthermore, the geographic location of the electronic device may be compared with the region code of the device component. The electronic device may be enabled to function with the device component when the geographic location of the electronic device falls under a region defined by the region code.

A printing system allowing an administrator to conveniently limit a function of a print device when used by a general user is provided. A device management system includes a device management apparatus, a first electronic device, a second electronic device, and an intervening apparatus. The device management apparatus includes a memory storing authorized user identification information, a receiver receiving user identification information from the first electronic device, and processing circuitry determining whether it is allowed to use at least the first electronic device. If so, third device identification information is stored. The intervening apparatus includes a receiver receiving the user identification information from the second electronic device and processing circuitry determining whether it is allowed to use at least the first electronic device. If so, the third device identification information is received. The second electronic device includes a receiver receiving a request and processing circuitry determining whether the third device identification information in the request matches the third device identification information received from the device management apparatus, and accepts the request.

In accordance with an embodiment, an authentication apparatus comprises an image capturing device, a memory and a controller. The image capturing device photographs a person to acquire a captured image. The memory stores the captured image. The controller generates a determination reference of authentication on the basis of a plurality of the captured images and carries out the authentication of the person in the captured image on the basis of the determination reference.
