A system may capture an image of a physical item, perform digital image processing to identify features of the physical item from the image, and generate a digital token for the physical item based on the digital image processing.

A system and method are provided including one or more processors and one or more computer-readable media coupled to the one or more processors. The one or more computer-readable media storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform operation including performing, at an image processing device, a login process wherein access to one or more resources on the image processing device is granted based on a credential associated with a user and receiving a request to perform a scan and send process is received at the image processing device, the request comprising instructions for scanning a physical document and sending an electronic document representing the scanned physical document to a destination system. The scan process is initiated and a data object including data representing job data and the credential associated with the use is generated. The send process using the generated data object is executed as a background process on the image processing device and a subsequent user is able to access the image processing device and use at least one resource of the image processing device simultaneously.

In accordance with an embodiment, an authentication apparatus comprises an image capturing device, a memory and a controller. The image capturing device photographs a person to acquire a captured image. The memory stores the captured image. The controller generates a determination reference of authentication on the basis of a plurality of the captured images and carries out the authentication of the person in the captured image on the basis of the determination reference.

A system includes a transmission apparatus that transmits data, and an output apparatus that outputs the received data. Output of the data is restricted if the output apparatus does not satisfy a predetermined security requirement. If a time period for outputting the data is specified, a confirmation is made with a recipient as to whether to permit removal of the restriction within the time period, and a response thereto is obtained. An image processing device comprises a receiving port, a processor, a storage and an output port. The receiving port receives old image data from a peripheral device. The processor electrically connected to receiving port performs a judging process on the old image data. When an old information block of the old image data is judged as containing old copy generation-count information, the processor generates a new information block containing new copy generation-count information according to the old copy generation-count information, and subtracts the old information block from the old image data and adds the new information block thereto to generate new image data and an encoding record. The storage electrically connected to the processor stores the encoding record. The output port electrically connected to the processor outputs the new image data. Copy apparatus and method using the image processing device are also provided.

An image forming apparatus includes an image reading section configured to read an image formed on a sheet, an area determination section configured to determine an image area included in the image read by the image reading section, a replacement section configured to replace the image area with a test pattern image predetermined according to the image area, and an image forming section configured to form and output an image obtained by replacing the image area with the test pattern image.

An information processing system includes one or plural processors configured to: when an event of starting a direct operation for an image processing apparatus has occurred, display predetermined identification information on the image processing apparatus; and restrict remote operations for the image processing apparatus performed by terminals other than a terminal that has read the identification information.
