On a condition that the rule-targeting command is received via an interface different from the LAN interface, the controller performs the rule-targeting process based on the rule-targeting command.

The scan process is initiated and a data object including data representing job data and the credential associated with the use is generated. The send process using the generated data object is executed as a background process on the image processing device and a subsequent user is able to access the image processing device and use at least one resource of the image processing device simultaneously.

An image forming apparatus has an image forming unit, a receiving unit, a discrimination unit, and a mode setting unit. The image forming unit forms an image on paper based on image data in either a first mode or a second mode in which image formation is more reliably performed than in the first mode. The receiving unit receives an image formation request from a user. The discrimination unit discriminates whether the user requesting image formation by the receiving unit is a first user or a second user who is less skilled in an operation of the image forming apparatus than the first user. When the discrimination unit discriminates that the user requesting image formation is the second user, a mode setting unit sets the mode to the second mode to operate the image forming unit.

An image obtaining device includes a communication interface configured to communicate with a terminal and a controller in communication with the communication interface. The controller configured to: generate encrypted image data using an encryption key and image data received by the controller, transmit the encrypted image data to the terminal via the communication interface; and transmit the encryption key to the terminal via the communication interface in a first situation, wherein the encryption key is not transmitted to the terminal in a second situation different from the first situation.

The start condition includes a requirement that first user authentication information is received in association with the execution instruction. The controller cancels the started pull scan under a cancellation condition. The cancellation condition includes: a requirement that a cancellation instruction to cancel the pull scan is received through the user interface; a requirement that second user authentication information is received through the user interface in association with the cancellation instruction; and a requirement that the second user authentication information corresponds to the first user authentication information. Despite receiving the cancellation instruction, the controller continues the pull scan under a continuation condition including a requirement that the second user authentication information does not correspond to the first user authentication information.

The present invention relates to a human look-alike electronic file cabinet. The electronic file cabinet is configured to provide a secure filing system in offices and to replace paper-filing cabinets. The cabinet includes cameras as the eyes and nose, microphone as mouth, two filing slots for dispensing files and receiving files, a fingerprint analysis screen for authorizing users for interacting with the cabinet, speakers, paper shredder, and trash receptacle. The microphone captures user voice requests and accordingly a processor operates the cabinet for dispensing a requested file or digitally storing a re-filed file. The cabinet can be a part of electronic filing system connecting a plurality of cabinets to a central cloud server. The cabinet can understand different languages and can contact emergency services when required.

A method of receiving data from a first component of an imaging device, by a second component of the imaging device, comprising: determining, by the second component, indirect data from a feature of a communication between the first and second components of the imaging device, wherein the communication is a data line communication. A supply item for an imaging device configured to receive data from a first component of the imaging device by determining indirect data from a feature of a communication between the first component of the imaging device and the supply item, wherein the communication is a data line. Alternatively, the supply item is configured to send data to the first component of the imaging device by converting indirect data into a feature of a communication and causing the communication to occur between the first component and the supply item, wherein the communication is a data line.
