An image processing apparatus includes a printing unit configured to print an image on a sheet, a network interface, and a controller configured to control modes of the image processing apparatus, the modes including a first mode in which power is supplied to the printing unit and a second mode in which power is not supplied to the printing unit. The controller is further configured to acquire device information via the network interface from that are connected to a network, count the number of the devices connected to the network, then calculate a statistical value based on the counted number of the devices and a previous number of devices connected to the network at a previous time. The controller controls the modes of the image processing apparatus based on the counted number of the devices and the statistical value.

An information processing apparatus includes first and second controllers. The first controller executes processing dependent on an individual piece of hardware having a function and stores information indicating an operating state of an individual piece of hardware. The information is different according to the piece of hardware. The second controller executes processing which is not dependent on any piece of hardware. When the information processing apparatus is powered ON, the first controller sends the information stored in the first controller to the second controller. The second controller controls a corresponding piece of hardware by using the information sent from the first controller.

An information processing apparatus includes a control unit, a storage unit configured to store a program to be executed by the control unit, a verification unit configured to read the program from the storage unit and to verify the read program, and a light-emitting unit configured to be changed to a predetermined light-emitting state or to be changed from the predetermined light-emitting state based on a result of the verification of the program by the verification unit.

The converter converts a second type of packets of a second system in the memory into a first type of packets of a first system. The filter extracts a valid first type of packets from the first type of packets read from the memory by the transfer section. A recording apparatus includes a recording head, a loading unit, a feeding unit, a cover, a detection unit, and a determination unit. The feeding unit feeds a recording medium loaded on the loading unit to a recording position where the recording head performs the recording. The cover moves between an opening state and a closing state. The determination unit determines a size of the loaded recording medium based on a result of a width detection operation. The recording head records an image per a determination result. If the cover closing is detected before the recording is performed, the determination unit performs the width detection operation to determine the recording medium size loaded on the loading unit. If the cover opening is detected and the recording apparatus receives a recording instruction, the determination unit performs the width detection operation to determine the recording medium size loaded on the loading unit.

According to one embodiment, an image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit, a fixing unit, a reading unit, and a control unit. The image forming unit forms a visible image on a sheet. The fixing unit executes a fixing process of fixing the visible image on the sheet. The reading unit executes a reading process of reading an image. The control unit starts measurement of time until shift to a power saving mode, and shifts the operation mode to the power saving mode in which power consumption is suppressed when the measured time passes a predetermined set time. The control unit stops the measurement of the time during execution of printing, which is a process involving execution of the fixing process, and continues the measurement of the time during execution of the reading process without execution of the printing.
