An image forming system includes an image forming apparatus, an option device, and a power supply line. The image forming apparatus includes an apparatus controller, an image forming unit, and an apparatus power supply. The apparatus power supply is configured to generate a control voltage that is supplied to the apparatus controller and an apparatus drive voltage that is supplied to the image forming unit. The option device includes a drive load, an option power supply, an option controller, and a detector. The option controller is configured to control the option power supply and receive the control voltage supplied from the apparatus power supply, via the power supply line. The detector is configured to transmit a detection signal to the option controller, the detection signal from among a plurality of different detection signals corresponding to operation statuses of the option power supply.

An information processing apparatus includes: a supply controller that controls supply of power according to a first mode and a second mode having lower power consumption than the first mode; an approach detector that detects an approach of a person during the second mode; a switching unit that switches over from the second mode to the first mode in a case where the approach of the person is detected; an authentication unit that performs authentication of the person after switching over to the first mode; a communication unit that performs communication through a communication line by the power supply in the first mode; an acquiring unit that requests acquisition of data corresponding to a result of the authentication of the person through the communication line, and acquires the data corresponding to the request; and an execution unit that executes a process based on the acquired data.

According to one aspect of the present disclosure, an electronic device is configured to take multiple power states including first and second power states, the electronic device comprising: a first controller controlling a power state of the electronic device; and a second controller connected to the first controller via a serial communication line and a single signal line, wherein the first controller controls the power state of the electronic device into: the first power state in response to a first command being input via the serial communication line; the second power state in response to a second command being input via the serial communication line; the first power state in response to a first pattern signal being input from the signal line; and the second power state in response to a second pattern signal being input from the signal line.

A control device includes a first control unit, including a first controller, to operate in a first operation mode and be powered off in a second operation mode in which a power consumption is lower than in the first operation mode; a second control unit, including a second controller, to operate in the first operation mode and the second operation mode; and a power supply controller to control power supply to the first control unit and the second control unit. A scanner includes: a pulse generator that generates a pulse signal; a transmissive optical sensor including a photo transmitter that projects pulsed light in response to the pulse signal and a photo receiver facing the photo transmitter; a charge-discharge unit capable of storing an electric charge of the pulse signal and discharging the stored electric charge; and a controller that causes the charge-discharge unit to discharge the electric charge when the photo receiver receives the pulsed light, causes the charge-discharge unit to store the electric charge when the photo receiver does not receive the pulsed light, and that starts supply of power to a CPU when an amount of the electric charge is at or above a threshold.

A sensor apparatus includes a photosensitive sensor, a cover, and a moving mechanism. The photosensitive sensor includes a first lens and a second lens which focus on a photosensitive element. The cover includes a first slit arranged on an optical axis of the first lens and a second slit arranged on an optical axis of the second lens. The moving mechanism is configured to move the photosensitive sensor and the cover relative to each other so that the second slit is arranged on the optical axis of the first lens.

An image forming apparatus capable of switching power state between a first power state and a second power state, which is lower in power than the first power state, shifts from the second power state to the first power state. In a case where the image forming apparatus shifts to the second power state in response to a current time reaching a set time, the image forming apparatus is controlled not to shift from the second power state to the first power state in response to an object approaching the image forming apparatus being detected.
