A control method for an information processing apparatus which is able to operate in any one of a plurality of states including a first state in which the information processing apparatus performs communication according to a predetermined communication method using a first number of antennas and a second state in which the information processing apparatus performs communication according to the predetermined communication method using a second number of antennas, the second number being less than the first number, includes causing the information processing apparatus to operate in a state that is based on at least one of information which is received from a communication apparatus capable of performing communication according to the predetermined communication method, a state of the communication apparatus, and a state of the information processing apparatus, out of the plurality of states.

An example post-processing apparatus includes an input unit to receive a request for a manual stapling operation, a stapling device, a switch to control power supplied from an image forming apparatus in a sleep mode to the stapling device, a sensor to detect print media being input to the post-processing apparatus, and a processor. The processor is to receive power from the image forming apparatus, which is in the sleep mode, control the switch to switch the post-processing apparatus from the sleep mode to a manual stapling operation mode when a request for a manual stapling operation is received via the input unit, and operate the stapling device when an input detection signal regarding the print media is received from the sensor.

According to one embodiment, an image forming apparatus includes a housing, a first sensor configured to detect a user in front of the housing, an illumination light configured to emit light in an illumination direction, and an opening and closing element configured to open and close a portion of the housing. A second sensor is configured to detect the opening and the closing of the opening and closing element. An adjuster is configured to change a detection distance of the first sensor and the illumination direction in conjunction with each other by physical movement. A controller is configured to turn on the illumination light when the opening and closing element is open, and turn off the illumination light when is closed.
