The electronic apparatus includes a switch that activates or cancels an automatic power-on function of the electronic apparatus, and a processor that shifts the electronic apparatus from the first state to the second state, in a case where, when the electronic apparatus is in the first state, a state transition condition for shifting the electronic apparatus to another state that consumes less energy than the first state is satisfied, and the automatic power-on function is active, and shifts the electronic apparatus from the first state to the third state, in a case where the state transition condition is satisfied and the automatic power-on function is inactive.

An image reading apparatus, comprising a memory that can transition from a normal mode to a power saving mode based on an inputted control signal, and a control unit that controls the control signal based on a synchronization signal that indicates a timing at which an image processing module outputs image data to a reading unit or a print unit.

A terminal device writes authorization information into a storing unit of an image processing apparatus irrespective of whether power is supplied to the image processing apparatus. A control unit of the image processing apparatus starts the image processing apparatus, performs user authorization using the authorization information, and enters a standby state upon start of supply of power by a power supply unit in the case where the authorization information is written. An information processing apparatus according to the present invention is operated by at least switching between a first power state and a second power state in which its power consumption is less than that of the first power state. In a case where an event detected during a period from start to end of processing of making transition from the first power state to the second power state is a communication establishment event, the information processing apparatus causes a communication unit to transmit to a communication partner a notification for maintaining connection of communication in the second power state.

A state change of a status occurred during a communication interrupted state is stored as a state change status. Thus, a video controller 102 can recognize the change of the status during a period when communication between the video controller 102 and an engine control unit 103 is interrupted, based on the state change status.

An image forming apparatus capable of switching power state between a first power state and a second power state, which is lower in power than the first power state, shifts from the second power state to the first power state. In a case where the image forming apparatus shifts to the second power state in response to a current time reaching a set time, the image forming apparatus is controlled not to shift from the second power state to the first power state in response to an object approaching the image forming apparatus being detected.

An image forming system includes an image forming apparatus having an image reading device, and a post-processing apparatus having a manual staple mechanism. The manual staple mechanism is capable of performing staple processing on condition that power is supplied from the image forming apparatus to the post-processing apparatus. The image forming apparatus stops power supply to the post-processing apparatus on condition that a predetermined time has elapsed since reference timing. When the image forming apparatus reads an original with the image reading device, the image forming apparatus determines presence or absence of a staple mark in the original based on a read result. When the image forming apparatus determines that the staple mark is present, the image forming apparatus extends the predetermined time.
