An image forming device that executes an image forming program for real-time mechanical control and another program, using a single cache memory for the image forming program and said another program. The image forming device includes: a cache lockdown unit that executes a cache lockdown to lock down a storage area of the cache memory that stores at least a portion of the image forming program necessary for image formation processing; and a print unit that executes the image formation processing while the storage area is locked down.

In accordance with an embodiment, the image forming apparatus comprises a display section, a connection section and a controller. The connection section connects with a device having a storage section. The controller detects connection and disconnection with the connection section and does not display a first screen displayed on the display section due to the connection with the device if the disconnection is detected.

An information processing apparatus includes an image processing section that executes image processing, the operation control section that controls an operation of the information processing apparatus in any of two or more operation states including at least a first operation state, in which operations by all functions of the information processing apparatus are possible, and a second operation state in which operations by some functions of the information processing apparatus are limited, and the data processing section that executes specific data processing, which does not involve the image processing by the image processing section, in a case where the operation control section performs control in the second operation state.

This invention makes it possible to, in a pull transfer communication protocol, to interrupt forwarding of information on the server side at a timing desired by a user. To achieve this, a client includes a first request unit for transmitting a content request to the server and the server includes a first response unit for transmitting content requested from the first request unit to the client. The client further includes a second request unit for requesting the server to make a response if a predetermined status has occurred, and the server further includes a second response unit for deferring, if the request made by the second request unit is received, a response if the predetermined status has not occurred, and transmitting the response to the client if the predetermined status has occurred.

An image forming apparatus includes a controller that operates as a memory device detection module that detects connection of the memory device to the port, a speculative process control module that, when the connection of the memory device is detected, reads sizes of the one or more image data items from the memory device, and causes the image processor to speculatively process the one or more image data items in a descending order of the sizes, and a job execution module that, when the job execution request is input, reads the speculatively-processed image data item from the storage device on a basis of the selection request, and outputs the speculatively-processed image data item in response to the job execution request.

An image-reading apparatus includes an image-reader and a controller. The controller is configured to perform: controlling the image-reader to execute: (a1) reading a first set of original documents; and (a2) generating read data sets indicating images on the original documents in the first set; transmitting the read data sets generated by the (a2) generating to an information-processing apparatus; counting a remaining period until a specific time, the specific time being a time when a first period elapses from a predetermined time after completing the (a2) reading; transmitting the counted remaining period to the information-processing apparatus; controlling, in response to receiving a specific signal before the specific time, the image-reader to execute: (e1) reading a second set of original documents; and (e2) generating read data sets indicating images on the original documents in the second set; and transmitting the read data sets generated by the (e2) generating to the information-processing apparatus.

A configuration is provided in which in a case where a user operation is performed on an image forming apparatus or a data processing apparatus while the image forming apparatus and the data processing apparatus are operating in cooperation with each other, the automatic clearing timers of both the apparatuses are reset.

A printing system controls a printing member to perform printing based on a print job for which a charged fee is already settled. The printing system receives a first instruction to suspend the printing started by the printing member and suspends the printing started by the printing member in response to reception of the first instruction. The printing system receives a second instruction as to a post suspending process to be executed after the printing is suspended. The printing system performs one of a post fee-settlement process and a restart process, as the post suspending process. The post fee-settlement process is related to provision of a benefit corresponding to refunding at least part of the charged fee. The restart process is to restart the suspended printing to complete the print job after a reason that the first instruction is made is resolved.

An image reading apparatus includes: a feeding unit that feeds a document sheet of a document; a reading unit that reads the document sheet fed by the feeding unit; a detection unit that detects that the document sheet fed by the feeding unit is bound to another document sheet; a controller that interrupts feeding of the document sheet by the feeding unit in accordance with detection by the detection unit that the document sheet fed by the feeding unit is bound to another document sheet; and a display unit that displays a screen that provides a notification of an action to be taken to read the document whose feeding has been interrupted in accordance with the detection by the detection unit.

A printer is caused to perform a checking print for a job in a case that a predetermined user's instruction is received via a user interface. The printer is caused to perform the checking print for the job without receiving the predetermined user's instruction in a case that the job meets a predetermined condition.
