An image forming apparatus obtains an interrupt execution instruction of an image forming job, the interrupt execution instruction including image data and execution information, suspends a prior image forming job being executed by using a first memory area, generates printable data by applying the execution information to image data of the suspended prior image forming job, writes the generated printable data in a second memory area, deletes the prior image forming job from the first memory area to free the first memory area, executes an interrupt image forming job of the interrupt execution instruction by using the first memory area, the prior image forming job having been deleted from the first memory area, and retrieves the printable data written in the second memory area and forms an image by using the retrieved printable data to execute the suspended prior image forming job.

An image forming system including a printer that forms an image on a sheet and an inspection apparatus that inspects an image on a sheet delivered from the printer. A discharge mode for discharging a sheet inspected by the inspection apparatus and binding processing for binding a plurality of sheets as one bundle are set on a console panel. In a case where a first mode for discharging a first sheet determined as normal by the inspection apparatus to a first discharge destination, discharging a second sheet determined as defective by the inspection apparatus to a second discharge destination different from the first discharge destination, and discharging a third sheet conveyed subsequently to the second sheet, determined as normal by the inspection apparatus, to the first discharge destination is set as the discharge mode, and the binding processing is set, execution of the corresponding job is stopped.

An image forming apparatus is provided with a power supply switch, a control unit configured to transition the image forming apparatus into a suspend state when the power supply switch is turned off by an operation of a user, a device to which a power supply is stopped forcibly when the power supply switch is turned off by the operation of the user, and a notification unit configured to notify the control unit of an error that occurred on the device, and the control unit, in a case where the error is notified of by the notification unit, controls the image forming apparatus to revert from the suspend state and resets the image forming apparatus.

The following steps are performed in connection with a photodiode circuit: a) resetting the photodiode circuit; b) determining when a photodiode voltage changes in response to illumination to reach a threshold; and c) updating a counter in response to the determination in step b). The steps a) to c) are repeated until an end of a measurement period is reached. The value of the counter at the end of the measurement period is then output to indicate an intensity of the illumination.

An image reading apparatus includes: a feeding unit that feeds a document sheet of a document; a reading unit that reads the document sheet fed by the feeding unit; a detection unit that detects that the document sheet fed by the feeding unit is bound to another document sheet; a controller that interrupts feeding of the document sheet by the feeding unit in accordance with detection by the detection unit that the document sheet fed by the feeding unit is bound to another document sheet; and a display unit that displays a screen that provides a notification of an action to be taken to read the document whose feeding has been interrupted in accordance with the detection by the detection unit.

An image forming apparatus includes a processor, a storage unit, a paper sheet feeder, an image forming unit, and a postprocessing unit. The postprocessing unit performs postprocessing on the recording sheet following image formation by the image forming unit. When a print/postprocessing job in which a plurality of copies is printed and postprocessing is performed on each copy is executed by the print-job execution unit, the postprocessing-position marking unit labels image data for at least the head page of the first copy with predetermined marks respectively in a position where postprocessing is to be performed and in a position where postprocessing is performable. The print-job execution unit, when executing the print/postprocessing job, performs control such that the first copy is printed without postprocessing, an image in which at least the head page has been labeled with the marks is printed, and the print/postprocessing job is temporarily halted.

An image forming apparatus capable of reducing the trouble of operation of the user, when being disconnected from and reconnected to an information processing apparatus for transmission and reception of maintenance work data for maintenance work. When the image forming apparatus is disconnected from and reconnected to the information processing apparatus for the above-mentioned purpose, identification information for identifying the information processing apparatus to be reconnected is stored in a storage section. An icon for enabling user to reconnect to the information processing apparatus identified by the identification information is displayed on a display section when the identification information is stored. The image forming apparatus reconnects to the information processing apparatus when the reconnection is instructed by the user using the icon.

An image forming apparatus is provided that includes a scanning unit that performs a scanning operation of scanning each page of a document to acquire image data, and a printing unit that performs a printing operation of printing data based on the image data acquired by the scanning unit in parallel with the scanning operation by the scanning unit. The image forming apparatus further includes a control unit that controls the printing unit to stop the printing operation before the printing operation is performed with respect to all the image data acquired by the scanning unit, and controls the printing unit to resume the printing operation with respect to data that is stored in a storage unit based on the image data acquired by the scanning unit while the printing operation is stopped when the data that is stored in the storage unit reaches a first threshold value.

In an electronic apparatus of this invention, after a security function is canceled, it is determined whether the elapsed time from cancellation of the security function to detection of attachment of a device having a security function of security level higher than that of the canceled security function or the elapsed time until the operation of the attached device is enabled has exceeded a predetermined time. Upon determining that the elapsed time has exceeded the predetermined time, the electronic apparatus enables the canceled security function again.

An image reading device includes a document sheet conveying portion, an imaging element, a reading processing portion, a detection processing portion, and a stop processing portion. The document sheet conveying portion sequentially conveys a plurality of document sheets placed on a document sheet placement portion. The imaging element is disposed at a document sheet conveyance path. The reading processing portion executes a reading process of reading image data from each of the document sheets placed on the document sheet placement portion. The detection processing portion detects an abnormal image from image data of a document sheet read in the reading process. The stop processing portion, when the detection processing portion has detected the abnormal image, stops the reading process and a power supply to the imaging element, and after an elapse of a predetermined wait time, resumes the power supply to the imaging element, and resumes the reading process.
