An image processing apparatus and a method of controlling the same, where in a case where it is not possible to identify the size of an original document to be read by a reading apparatus that scans and reads the original document, the reading apparatus is controlled to read the original document by a maximum reading region of the reading apparatus, image data of the original document is cropped from image data obtained by reading the original document by the maximum reading region, and the cropped image data of the original document is converted to a file.

A system and method for scanning two or more documents into a single scan file includes a multifunction peripheral having an intelligent controller including a processor and associated memory. A scanner of the multifunction peripheral includes first and second document feed modes. A user interface includes a display, such as a touchscreen display. A first sensor detects a presence of a first tangible document in the first feed mode. A second sensor detects a second document in the second feed mode. The controller enables the first feed mode to complete a first scan operation and generates a digital image file comprising images of the first document. The controller generates a prompt on the display for a selection of a continued scan operation. If selected, the second feed mode completes a second scan operation on the second document and generates the digital image file to include images of the second document.

An information processing apparatus includes: a data sharing unit configured to cause an application selected as a data output destination to process data which is output by an application which is a data output source; a process-object-data generation control unit configured to generate process object data in one of a first format and a second format based on image data acquired by an image information interface from an image information source; and an application-information display unit configured to display identification images for identifying applications which the data sharing unit can select as the data output destination if the data sharing unit is to process either data of the first format or data of the second format.

Tools (for example, system, apparatus, application software, a method, etc.) can be provided for processing scan images corresponding to a hardcopy document that has been scanned according to a document processing profile. For example, when such profile specifies a division size, the scan images corresponding to the scanned hardcopy document may be assembled into multiple divided image files (each no greater than the division size) and such multiple divided image files are sent to a specified scan image target as a grouping of divided image files associated with the hardcopy document.

An information processing system includes a storage storing a first program for providing a function and a second program for executing a process for implementing the function; a storage storing, for each application for executing a sequence of processes, identification information identifying the application and information relating to the sequence of processes, the sequence-related information defining the second program for executing the process included in the sequence of processes; a unit for accepting a request from a device coupled to the system, the request including the identification information and electronic data-related information; and a process executer configured to execute the sequence of processes using electronic data based on the information included in the request, as the first program, which corresponds to the second program defined in the sequence-related information associated with the identification information included in the request, requests the second program to execute the predetermined process.

A controller of a scanner reads an original using a scanning engine to generate first scan data. The first scan data is for a plurality of page images each representing corresponding one or more sheets of a plurality of sheets in the original. The controller transmits scan-related information to a server. The scan-related information is related to page data for first target page images. The controller receives determination information from the server. The determination information indicates that one or more second target page images of the first target page images represent blank pages. The determination information is outputted by a trained machine learning model based on the scan-related information. The controller generates second scan data by excluding blank page data from the first scan data based on the determination information. The controller outputs the second scan data or an object based on the second scan data.
