In an image forming apparatus a controller receives user instruction information for printing a test chart, controls a printer to print the test chart on a sheet regardless of a result of reading mode selection, controls a display to display a screen for selecting a reading mode for reading the test chart among a plurality of reading modes, and controls a conveyance roller and a reading sensor to read the test chart on the sheet while conveying a stacked sheet in a case where a first reading mode is selected on the screen. The controller also controls the reading sensor to read the test chart on the sheet on a platen in a case where a second reading mode is selected on the screen, and controls density of the image to be printed by the printer based on a reading result of the test chart by the reading sensor.

An image scanner includes a transparent plate, a scanning device, a driving device, a positioning member, a light absorbing portion and a white reference portion. The transparent plate has an original placing surface. The scanning device irradiates an original with light by means of a light source and scans reflected light from the original. The driving device reciprocates the scanning device along the transparent plate. The positioning member positions the original placed on the original placing surface of the transparent plate. The light absorbing portion, which is disposed on the original placing surface side of the positioning member and at substantially a central portion of the positioning member in moving directions of the scanning device, absorbs ambient light entering to the original placing surface side of the positioning member through the transparent plate. The white reference portion is provided to the original placing surface side of the positioning member.

A print data generator includes a storage storing processor-executable instructions causing a processor to perform a process to generate print data from original full-color data. The process includes when a hue value of a pixel is within a specific hue range for an emphasis color, setting a density value of a reference color of the pixel based on a value value of the pixel, and setting a density of the emphasis color of the pixel based on a saturation value of the pixel and a difference value between the hue value of the pixel and a hue value of the emphasis color, and when the hue value of the pixel is out of the specific hue range, setting the density value of the reference color based on a luminance value of the pixel derived from RGB data, and setting the density value of the emphasis color to zero.

An image reading apparatus includes: a contact glass provided at an upper surface of a main body of the apparatus to set a manuscript thereon, an image sensor being positioned below the contact glass and having a reading surface on contact glass side for reading an image from the manuscript on the contact glass, a carriage supporting the image sensor accommodated in a sensor container formed to have a recess open to the contact glass side, a rail member slidably supporting the carriage, and a biasing member biasing the image sensor to the contact glass side via a biased portion adjacent to the reading surface of the image sensor. An upper end of the biasing member is positioned below the contact glass and above the lower surface of the image sensor.

An image reading apparatus includes an image reading unit, a mounting portion, and a cover member. The cover member includes a first restricting portion, a lock portion, and an operation portion. The operation portion operated from outside the main unit is displaceable in a direction in which the lock portion deforms from the locking shape into the releasing shape. The mounting portion includes a second restricting portion and a part. The second restricting portion restricts displacement of the operation portion in the cover member mounted on the mounting portion in the second orientation. The part has a second aperture opening into the lock portion in the cover member mounted on the mounting portion in the second orientation from outside the main unit. The second aperture is an opening for the insertion of a tool for deforming the lock portion from the locking shape into the releasing shape.

An image reading apparatus includes a transparent member having a placement surface on which a document is to be placed, a reading unit configured to read an image of the document placed on the transparent member via the transparent member, and a reading mode in which an image of a document, placed in a holding member with a transparent portion, is read. The document to be read is placed in the holding member so as to be visible via the transparent portion and the holding member is placed on the placement surface with the transparent portion of the holding member in contact with the placement surface. A processor detects an edge in an image acquired by the reading unit in the reading mode, and to extract an image surrounded by an edge detected in an area surrounded by an edge corresponding to the holding member in the reading mode.

An image reading apparatus includes a conveyance member, a transparent member, a background member, and a reading unit. The reading unit arranged on an opposite side to the background member with respect to the transparent member. The reading unit includes a light source and a reading sensor. The light source emits light toward a sheet. The reading sensor reads a shadow of a sheet and an image of the sheet through the transparent member. The shadow of the sheet is projected onto the background member. As viewed in a width direction perpendicular to a conveyance direction, an irradiating direction of the light inclines downstream in the conveyance direction toward a downstream side in the irradiating direction. The background member has a planar shape that is inclined to approach the transparent member from an upstream side toward a downstream side in the conveyance direction.

An image reading apparatus includes a conveying unit, a transparent member, a reading unit, and an opposing member. The reading unit includes a light source configured to irradiate a document with light, and a reading portion configured to read an image of a document conveyed by the conveying unit through reflection light of the light irradiated from the light source via the transparent member. The opposing member is disposed to face the transparent member in an opposing direction at a reading position of the reading unit and configured to form the conveyance path together with the transparent member. The opposing member includes an uneven surface portion facing the transparent member. The uneven surface portion includes a plurality of projecting portions which is regularly and continuously arranged when viewed in the opposing direction.

A document processing device includes a scanner, a display, a notification unit, and a control unit. The scanner is configured to read a document provided on a document table. The display is configured to display image data of the document read by the scanner. The notification unit is configured to provide a notification warning to indicate that the document has not been removed from the document table. The control unit is configured to detect the document on the document table.

An image reading apparatus includes a first unit, a second unit that is pivotable against the first unit, and a controller. The first unit includes a platen, a member, and a movable first reader. The second unit includes an original tray, a conveyance unit that conveys an original from the original tray, a static second reader. The controller determines an opening/closing state of the second unit against the first unit based on read data obtained when the second reader reads the member. The first reader reads the first side of an original conveyed by the conveyance unit and the second reader reads the second side of the original when the original placed on the original tray is read. The first reader reads the first side while moving under the original when the original placed on the platen is read.
