A method, and document scanner system, for correcting image values recorded by an optical document scanner with multiple color cameras arranged in a staggered configuration with overlap scan areas includes storing color correction values mapped to respective color index values, where a color correction value is computed from a color difference between a first color value and a second color value of the respective overlap sets, and correcting a third color value which is a color value from the second set of color image values by a color correction value which is looked up via a color index value determined from the third color value. Thereby color variations among staggered cameras are corrected.

Determining coordinates of scan bars

In one example, a document scanner having a document-receiving platen. The platen includes a plurality of alignment patterns disposed on the platen at known positions in a coordinate system. The scanner includes overlapping staggered scan bars disposed adjacent the platen, each scan bar fixed at a position to image a one-dimensional slice of a corresponding one of the alignment patterns. The scanner further includes a controller to determine, from the imaged slice, X and Y coordinates of each corresponding scan bar within the coordinate system.

The first bitmap is then modified to leave only the extension colorant plane, to create a modified bitmap; and a second printing pass prints the modified bitmap on the same sheet. The modified bitmap is additionally modified by removing printing pixels for the logical pages that do not contain an instruction to perform an additional printing pass of the extension colorant; and an additional printing pass prints the modified bitmap. These printing passes are repeated until no more of the logical pages contain the instruction to perform an additional printing pass of the extension colorant.
