An image reading device may include a conveyance path; a conveyance mechanism; and a first image sensor and a second image sensor that are disposed on both sides of the conveyance path. The conveyance mechanism may include a driving source; a pair of first conveyance rollers located upstream of a first and second image read position; and a pair of second conveyance rollers located downstream of the first and second image read position. The pair of first conveyance rollers may include a first drive roller; and a first opposing roller. The pair of second conveyance rollers may include a second drive roller and a second opposing roller.

An image processing apparatus includes a size acquisition unit and a decision unit. The size acquisition unit acquires first size information indicating a first sheet size of a first sheet surface read by an image reading unit. The decision unit decides second image information indicating a second image size of a second image to be stored of a second sheet surface different from the first sheet surface based on first image information indicating a first image size of a first image to be stored based on the first size information.

An image acquiring device comprises: an automatic document feeder comprising: an input tray supporting an information medium; and a control panel comprising an operation button for selecting one image acquiring side of the information medium; an image acquiring assembly acquiring the image of the image acquiring side; a processor electrically connected to the automatic document feeder, the image acquiring assembly and the operation button; a storage, which is electrically connected to the processor and comprises an image module storing program codes for enabling acquiring the image of the image acquiring side; and an output unit receiving and outputting the image of the image acquiring side. The processor controls the image acquiring assembly to acquire the image of the image acquiring side according to the program codes and different signals of the operation button and transmits the image to the output unit. An image scanning device includes a platen, an image scanning unit that scans at a single time documents placed on the platen and generates pieces of image data, and an image data processing unit that performs processing of the pieces of image data. When the image scanning unit generates pieces of first image data by scanning first surfaces of the documents, each of which is placed in one of predetermined areas on the platen, and generates pieces of second image data by scanning surfaces opposite to the first surfaces of the documents, each of which is turned over and placed again in the one of the predetermined areas, the image data processing unit associates one of the pieces of the first image data with a corresponding one of the pieces of the second image data for each of the predetermined areas, as image data of the front and back surfaces.

According to aspects illustrated herein, methods and systems for retaining duplex scanning information in a scanned output file, is disclosed. The method includes receiving a document for scanning, having multiple pages, wherein each page has a first side such as a front side and a second side such as a back side. Then, a check for selection of a duplex scanning feature by a user, is performed. Upon scanning, an image data representing an image of the document is generated. The image data and the duplex scanning feature selected by the user is processed to generate a scanned output file. The duplex scanning information is generated, while generating the scanned output file. The duplex scanning information is retained in the scanned output file, for later retrieval and use. The duplex scanning information helps identify the first side and the second side in the scanned output file.

An information reading device capable of optically and appropriately reading information recorded on one surface of a first information recording medium having an end portion in which folds and the like are liable to occur, and information recorded on both surfaces of a second information recording medium which has an end portion in which folds and the like are not liable to occur.

An image processing apparatus includes a size acquisition unit and a decision unit. The size acquisition unit acquires first size information indicating a first sheet size of a first sheet surface read by an image reading unit. The decision unit decides second image information indicating a second image size of a second image to be stored of a second sheet surface different from the first sheet surface based on first image information indicating a first image size of a first image to be stored based on the first size information.

An image reading apparatus includes a conveying unit to convey a document, first and second reading units, a reception unit, a selection unit, and a setting unit. The first reading unit generates image data form a document first side and the second reading unit generates image data from a second side in parallel with the first reading unit reading. The reception unit receives settings regarding a size, an orientation, and a document opening direction of the document. The selection unit selects either a first reading method causing the first and second reading units to read per the set size, and a second reading method causing the first reading unit to read the first side per the set size and causing the second reading unit to read an entire second side. The setting unit sets image data corresponding to the document second side reading by the second reading method.

An image reading apparatus includes a first reading section configured to read a first plane of the document, a second reading section configured to read a second plane which is a back side of the first plane, a first controller stops the reading of the first reading section after causing the first reading section to read a last line before the reading of the first reading section is stopped and transmits a reading stop instruction to a second controller earlier than a timing when the first reading section reads the last line by a time difference corresponding to a delay generated in communication between the first and second controllers. The second controller stops reading of the second reading section after causing the second reading section to read one line in response to the reading stop instruction.

An image scanning device includes a platen, an image scanning unit that scans at a single time documents placed on the platen and generates pieces of image data, and an image data processing unit that performs processing of the pieces of image data. When the image scanning unit generates pieces of first image data by scanning first surfaces of the documents, each of which is placed in one of predetermined areas on the platen, and generates pieces of second image data by scanning surfaces opposite to the first surfaces of the documents, each of which is turned over and placed again in the one of the predetermined areas, the image data processing unit associates one of the pieces of the first image data with a corresponding one of the pieces of the second image data for each of the predetermined areas, as image data of the front and back surfaces.
