An image forming apparatus that forms an image on a recording medium includes a detection section, an acquisition section, and a hardware processor. The detection section detects a physical property of the recording medium. The acquisition section acquires predetermined data related to the recording medium from an outside of the image forming apparatus. The hardware processor controls an operation in the image forming apparatus based on a detection value detected by the detection section and the predetermined data acquired by the acquisition section.

A printing apparatus includes a feeding units, a detecting unit, a designating unit, and a control unit. The detecting unit detects a respective operation on each of the feeding units. The designating unit designates, in response to a user operation via a display, which of the feeding units is to be used for printing. The control unit executes, in response to a command to execute predetermined printing, a process based on a first feeding unit on which an operation has been last detected by the detecting unit and a second feeding unit designated by the designating unit. Based on that the first and second feeding units are different, the control unit displays, as the process, a predetermined screen on the display. An image forming apparatus includes an image forming device; and circuitry to receive an instruction to print an image based on image data according to print settings, and based on a determination that the print settings indicate to print the image on a recording sheet having a second size larger than a first size of the image, control a display to display a preview image that reflects a printed image of the image data, the preview image including a margin at least at one side of the printed image, the margin having a size determined based on the second size of the recording sheet.

The controller determines whether or not acquired image data includes a first type image and a second type image. An image processing apparatus includes a data analyzing part, and a data generating part. The data analyzing part is configured to refer to original image data for generating a printed material utilizing a first consumable material absorbing a larger amount of visible light than invisible light and a second consumable material absorbing a larger amount of invisible light than visible light, and to a correction data table indicating whether invisible light is absorbed for each density value regarding the first consumable material, and specify a pixel having a density value of the first consumable material and absorbing invisible light in the original image data. The data generating part is configured to correct the density value of the first consumable material in the specified pixel to a density value of a third consumable material not absorbing invisible light, to generate corrected image data.

According to an embodiment, an image forming apparatus, comprises a document feeder to feed a document page by page, a scanner to scan the document fed by the document feeder and generate image data of the document, a printing apparatus to print images on recording media. An interface is configured to receive print settings and a test printing command. A controller is configured to control the document feeder to feed pages of the document according to the print settings when the test printing command is received, acquire image data of the pages of the document fed by the document feeder, and control the printing apparatus to print images in a test printing. The images in the test printing comprising image data of the pages of the document fed by the document feeder.
