An image forming method: imaging an image forming medium in the image forming unit to generate medium image data representing the image forming medium; controlling an image formation in a plurality of modes including a single-side image forming mode and a duplex image forming mode; and detecting an ink stain based on tone differences between first medium image data and second medium image data by comparing the first medium image data as medium image data representing one surface of the image forming medium and the second medium image data as medium image data representing another surface of the image forming medium when the duplex image forming mode is selected. The controlling includes setting the whole image formable region as the target of the ejection restriction process in response to the detection of the ink stain to inhibit an ejection of the ink to the other surface.

An apparatus, system, method, and a control program stored in a non-transitory recording medium, each of which: receives a plurality of input images corresponding to respective viewpoints; generates, based on the plurality of input images, a first output image and a second output image that are to be printed by duplex printing on at least one transmissive transfer medium having image layers on both sides thereof, so as to reproduce at least part of one of the input images corresponding to each of the viewpoints on the transmissive transfer medium; and instructs a printer to print the first output image and the second output image by duplex printing.

An image forming apparatus includes a communication interface, a controller, and an image forming section. The communication interface acquires an Internet Protocol (IP) address through a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server function of a network. The controller causes the image forming apparatus to operate in a first mode based on acquisition of the IP address, and causes the image forming apparatus to operate in a second mode until the IP address is acquired. The image forming section forms an image on an image formation medium in a plurality of modes including a network mode in which the image is formed based on an image formation job acquired through the network. In the second operation mode, operation of the image forming section in the network mode is limited.

A duplex printing method includes, determining an amount of shrinkage of a media sheet onto which a front side image has been printed; scaling an image to be printed on a back side of the sheet with a scaling function that depends upon the determined shrinkage; and printing the scaled image on the back side of the sheet. The step of determining includes predicting a shrinkage of a media sheet on the basis of process parameters, and on the basis of a model that is defined by a set of model parameters and that describes a dependence of the shrinkage on the process parameters, the process parameters including at least an amount of marking material to be applied to the front side of the sheet; measuring an actual shrinkage of the sheet; and adjusting the model parameters based on a comparison between the predicted shrinkage and the measured shrinkage to improve a prediction of a shrinkage for a subsequent sheet.

An approach is provided that sends a user a set of proposed paper saving attributes in response to determining that a paper supply of a printer is insufficient to print a print job without using the set of proposed paper saving attributes. The set of paper saving attributes for the print job is altered to the set of proposed paper saving in response to receiving a reply that is an affirmative reply. The file corresponding to the print job is then printed on the printer using the set of paper saving attributes.

According to an embodiment, an image forming apparatus, comprises a document feeder to feed a document page by page, a scanner to scan the document fed by the document feeder and generate image data of the document, a printing apparatus to print images on recording media. An interface is configured to receive print settings and a test printing command. A controller is configured to control the document feeder to feed pages of the document according to the print settings when the test printing command is received, acquire image data of the pages of the document fed by the document feeder, and control the printing apparatus to print images in a test printing. The images in the test printing comprising image data of the pages of the document fed by the document feeder.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming section, a receiving section, and a controller. The image forming section forms a plurality of images on a plurality of sheets. The receiving section receives a print job including a layout format indicating a layout of the images on the sheets. The controller controls the image forming section based on the print job. Each of the images indicates an image expressed by image data of a single page. The print job includes an instruction to form the images on the sheets according to a plurality of mutually different layout formats.

One embodiment provides a method, including: receiving, at an information handling device, a request to print a document; analyzing, using a processor, content of the document; determining, based on the analyzing, a printing characteristic of the content, wherein the printing characteristic comprises at least one of: a simplex printing characteristic and a duplex printing characteristic; establishing, based on the printing characteristic, a printer setting for printing the document.
