The example apparatus also includes an encoder to encode a first bit sequence in the media file on a first encoding layer of a multilayered watermark, the first bit sequence to include a client identifier of a client associated with the media file, and encode a second bit sequence in the media file on a second encoding layer of the multilayered watermark, the second bit sequence to include a media identifier to identify media corresponding to the media file.

An augmented reality experience is provided to a user of a hand held device, such as a mobile phone, which incorporates an electronic processor, a camera and a display. Images taken from video footage are displayed in a display of a hand held device together with a live camera view, to create the illusion that the subject of the video—i.e., the virtual moving image—is present in the field of view of the camera in real time. In this context the term “real world” image means an image taken from reality, such as a physical, real-world scenario using an electronic photo-capture technique, e.g. video recording. A camera of a hand held device is aimed at a well-known object, which is recognisable to the device. A moving virtual image of an actor playing the part of an historical figure, chosen because of its relevance to the object, is displayed.
Augmented reality apparatus and method
A live broadcast is depicted, in this case a golf tournament. The broadcast is depicted on a television screen of a user, substantially in real time. In a television studio, which may be close to the site of the live broadcast, or may be remote therefrom, a commentator or pundit records segments of video analysis. The video image is sent to a server. The video clip of the commentator is then downloadable by the user using a device such as a mobile phone or tablet. The user can then view the additional content—the video segment of the commentator—on his device. Using the techniques of positioning and anchoring as described herein, the user can enjoy the video segment as though the commentator were present in the room, by viewing the room through a camera of the device.

In accordance with some implementations of the disclosed subject matter, mechanisms for presenting recommended media content items are provided. In some implementations, a method for providing media guidance is provided, the method comprising: receiving a request for supplemental content relating to a program being presented by a media device; causing a content interface to be presented on a mobile device; identifying the program that is being presented on a media device; determining keywords associated with the program, wherein each of the keywords is associated with a particular portion of the program; obtaining and storing supplemental content items corresponding to the program based on the keywords; causing the content interface to present a first supplemental content item; receiving state information associated with the mobile device that indicates a subsequent visit to the content interface; and causing the content interface to present a second supplemental content item based on the state information.
