Seed delivery apparatus, systems, and methods
09769978 · 2017-09-26 · ·

An apparatus and methods for delivering seed from a metering device to a furrow. In one embodiment, a seed meter entrains and releases seed from a seed disc at a seed release location. The released seed is directed into a seed conveyor by a loading wheel. The seed conveyor conveys the seed toward the soil and releases the seed with a rearward relative velocity.

ROW PLANTER ASSEMBLY

A row planter assembly having offset track assemblies, a downforce control assembly, a furrow assembly, a seed metering assembly, and a seed delivery assembly.

Seed characteristic sensor

Seed meters, agricultural planters, and methods of planting seed may include a housing defining a chamber, a seed disc rotatably coupled to the housing and at least partially positioned within the chamber with the seed disc adapted to engage a seed, and a sensor for detecting a characteristic of the seed after the seed disengages the seed disc and before the seed exits the seed meter. The sensor may be coupled to a seed chute of the seed meter and may detect a wide variety of seed characteristics such as seed position within the seed chute, seed size, and seed shape. The seed characteristic may be used to adjust operation of the seed meters, agricultural planters, and methods. In some instances, the adjustment may be manual. In other instances, the adjustment may be automatic.

System for spraying plants and/or plant precursors

Various embodiments of a system for automatically sensing and spraying plants and/or plant precursors as they are planted or otherwise distributed on and/or within the ground is disclosed.

CAMERA BASED FLOW DETECTION

A method for identifying a flow of commodity through a commodity distribution system. The method including providing a tank configured to contain a commodity, selectively distributing commodity from the tank to a drill assembly to be distributed to an underlying surface, and monitoring the flow of commodity from the tank to the drill assembly with a camera to identify flow characteristics.

IMPLEMENT MOUNTED SENSORS SENSING SEED AND RESIDUE CHARACTERISTICS AND CONTROL

A mobile agricultural machine includes a row unit having a furrow opener mounted to the row unit and configured to engage a surface of ground over which the mobile agricultural machine travels to open a furrow in the ground. A furrow closer is mounted to the row unit behind the furrow opener relative to a direction of travel of the mobile agricultural machine and is configured to engage the surface of the ground to close the furrow. An image sensor system is mounted to the row unit and configured to sense characteristics of residue and seeds in the furrow opened by the furrow opener and generate a sensor signal indicative of the characteristics. The mobile agricultural machine can further include a control system configured to generate a residue/seed characteristic indicator corresponding to the sensed characteristics and to generate an action signal to control an action of the mobile agricultural machine based on the residue/seed characteristic indicator.

PREDICTIVE WEED MAP AND MATERIAL APPLICATION MACHINE CONTROL

A predictive map is obtained by an agricultural material application system. The predictive map maps predictive weed values at different geographic locations in a field. A geographic position sensor detects a geographic locations of an agricultural material application machine at the field. A control system generates a control signal to control the agricultural material application machine based on the geographic locations of the agricultural material application machine and the predictive map.

Implement mounted sensors to increase seeding productivity

An agricultural implement having a row unit and a material throw monitoring system. The row unit includes a ground engaging tool configured to engage with a ground at a ground engaging point to form a trench, and a conduit configured to deposit an agricultural product in the trench. The material throw monitoring system includes a sensor and a controller. The sensor is oriented toward the ground engaging point and configured to provide feedback to the controller based at least in part on material displaced by the ground engaging tool. The controller is configured to determine a throw distance of the material relative to the ground engaging tool based on the feedback from the sensor, determine an action to adjust operation of the agricultural implement based on a comparison of the throw distance with a threshold, and communicate the action with a controller coupled to the agricultural implement.

PLANTER CONTROL USING TIMESTAMP/LOCATION STAMPS
20210378164 · 2021-12-09 ·

A plurality of different controllers on an agricultural machine are time synchronized. A positioning system detects a geographic location and a timestamp, which is indicative of a time when the geographic location was sensed, is applied to the geographic location. A first controller, that identifies an action to be taken based upon a location of the agricultural machine and a speed of the agricultural machine, and also based on a geographic location of where the action is to be taken, generates a future timestamp indicating a future time at which the action is to be taken. An action identifier (that identifies the action) and the future timestamp is sent to an actuator controller that controls an actuator to take the action. The actuator controller identifies an actuator delay corresponding to the actuator and controls the actuator to take the action at a time identified in the future timestamp based upon the future timestamp, a current time, and the actuator delay.

Commodity metering system for work vehicle and calibration method for same

A metering system includes a plurality of metering elements that are independently controllable. A calibration method of the present disclosure includes generating calibration factors for the individual metering elements. Also, a method of the present disclosure includes operating the metering elements according to the respective calibration factor.
