Ink deposition uniformity compensation mechanism
A printing system is disclosed. The printing system includes at least one physical memory device to store halftone calibration logic and one or more processors coupled with the at least one physical memory device to execute the halftone calibration logic determine an uncalibrated deposition distribution for each of a plurality of pel forming elements, determine a calibrated deposition distribution for each of the plurality of pel forming elements and determine calibration values for each of the plurality of pel forming elements.
DIGITAL HALFTONING WITH DOTS REPRESENTING A SPIRAL
A halftone raster image, suitable for rendering a continuous-tone image, which comprises a plurality of dots, arranged according a screen ruling and screen angle. Said dots comprise (i) image pixels arranged as a first arc or as a plurality of arcs which together represent a first spiral, and (ii) non-image pixels arranged as a second arc or as a plurality of arcs which together represent a second spiral. Small displacements of the feed point of said dots away from the theoretical centre of a halftone dot, defined by said screen ruling and screen angle, enable a higher image quality and less patterns in said halftone raster image.
IMAGE PROCESSING APPARATUS, IMAGE PROCESSING METHOD, AND INKJET PRINTING APPARATUS
For a multi-pass printing, an image of a unit area is printed by M printing scans of M print regions of first and second nozzle arrays. Each of N pieces of column data is printed by a different printing scan. Ejection data for the first nozzle array is generated using a first mask pattern and ejection data for the second nozzle array is generated using a second mask pattern different from the first mask pattern, for each of the N pieces of column data. On that basis, the first mask pattern and the second mask pattern have a complementary relationship in each of the M print regions. Further, in each of the first mask pattern and the second mask pattern, a combination of print regions, of the M print regions, for printing dots at the same position on the print medium has a mutually complementary relationship.
Data-bearing medium
A data-bearing medium is disclosed. The data-bearing medium includes a section of cells having a set of opposite-shifted clusters. The cells include a combination of opposite shifts of the set of opposite-shifted clusters, which represent a single value.
Recursive halftoning and gray value substitution
An example system in accordance with an aspect of the present disclosure includes a halftone engine and a gray value engine. The halftone engine is to apply halftoning to an image recursively across a plurality of levels of image scales and spatial resolutions, to generate a pattern that is at least quasi-periodic across the plurality of levels. The gray value engine is to substitute gray values recursively for at least a portion of the halftoning.
Encoding dot patterns into printed images based on source pixel color
In an example method, a set of source pixels corresponding to an image to be printed and a dot pattern of pixels including information to be encoded across the image are received. The dot pattern of pixels is mapped to a corresponding subset of the source pixels. A value of a clipping channel color in the subset of the source pixels is modified based on an original value of the clipping channel color for each pixel in the subset. The clipping channel color is used to detect the dot pattern of pixels. The image including the subset of pixels with modified clipping channel colors is printed.
Recording device for recording recording image by nozzle set reciprocating relative to recording medium, image processing device for generating recording data for recording recording image by nozzle set reciprocating relative to recording medium and recording method for recording recording image by nozzle set reciprocating relative to recording medium
A recording system for recording a recording image based on image data by repeating a pass operation in which a nozzle column discharges ink while reciprocating relatively to a recording medium in a main scanning direction to form dots on the recording medium, and a conveying operation of relatively moving the nozzle column and the recording medium in a sub-scanning direction crossing the main scanning direction, the recording system including an assigning section for obtaining a plurality of halftone data which is generated with respect to the same area of the image data based on the image data, and which corresponds to the ink of a predetermined color, and then assigning each of the halftone data obtained to the pass operations in the same direction in reciprocation in the main scanning direction in a predetermined recording area.
Image processing apparatus and image forming apparatus providing clustering and gradation preservation with reduced memory requirement
An image processing apparatus generates and outputs a binarized output pixel value corresponding to an input pixel value; and includes a filter processing unit, a quantizer, and a buffer. The quantizer is configured to quantize a pixel value after a filter process performed by the filter processing unit and thereby generate the output pixel value. The buffer is configured to store for each pixel a difference between (a) a sum of the pixel value after the filter process and the input pixel value and (b) the output pixel value. Further, the filter processing unit performs a bandpass filter process on the basis of the difference stored by the buffer.
Flexography Printing
A flexographic printing plate includes at least one halftone printing area with a plurality of halftone dots. A halftone dot of said plurality of halftone dots is shaped as a relief area. Said relief area includes a central portion and a surrounding portion. Said central portion has a central dot floor with a first pattern of a plurality of pins protruding upwardly from the central dot floor. Said surrounding portion protrudes upwardly from the central dot floor and has a top side including a second pattern of a plurality of recesses. The first pattern and second pattern are such that the surrounding portion can be distinguished from the central portion.
PRINTING CALIBRATION PROCESS AND METHOD, AND PRINTING SYSTEMS CONFIGURED TO PRINT THEREWITH
A method for calibrating a printing process by applying a selected adjustment curve to an image input file to produce an output file. The adjustment curve is derived to match a target tonal response curve having a function value for 0 that is non-zero or has a discontinuity between 0 and 10%. The adjustment curve has a basic part selected from limited options and an intersecting highlight part derived using a 1-dimensional function having input parameters selected from limited options. The adjustment curve has a starting point (X1, Y1), a highlight curve part having a first slope at the starting point and a first intersection with the basic curve part at (X2, Y2). The first slope and first intersection are among the input parameters selected from limited options. The basic curve part has a second slope at a midrange point (X3>X2, Y3>Y2).
