Image processing apparatus, method of controlling image processing apparatus, and storage medium
Show-through is suitably removed while an image, such as a tag or highlighter, on a first surface is prevented from being removed. A luminance value of a pixel of a target region is increased based on a first correction amount in a case where the pixel is not a pixel of a halftone dot region and a value specified based on a saturation of the pixel of the target region is less than a predetermined value, or a luminance value of the pixel is increased based on a second correction amount less than the first correction amount in a case where the pixel is not a pixel of the halftone dot region and the value specified based on the saturation of the pixel of the target region is greater than or equal to the predetermined value.
Finding the page background color range
A method to reduce background noise in a document image includes: extracting, from the document image, a connected component corresponding to a background of the document image; generating a histogram of pixel values of the connected component; generating a replacement range using a range pruning algorithm that narrows a range of the histogram by iteratively discarding at least one pixel value and corresponding pixel count of the histogram from at least one side of the histogram; selecting, from the connected component, at least one pixel having a corresponding pixel value within the replacement range; converting the corresponding pixel value of the at least one pixel to a uniform background color; and outputting, subsequent to the converting, the document image.

The present principles relates to a method and device for tone-mapping an input picture by using a parametric tone-adjustment function. The method is characterized in that the method comprises determining at least one parameter of said tone-adjustment function modulated by a brightness level of the input picture.
IMAGE PROCESSING APPARATUS
An image processing apparatus is equipped with: an image data receiving unit that receives image data; and a print data generating unit that generates multiple value data as print data by performing a halftone process on the image data and converting the image data into at least three values. The print data generating unit administers a halftone process that includes a density fluctuation suppressing process that results in the print data always including a zero value except for a case in which all of the pixels that constitute the image data are converted into a maximum value.
Automatic digital parameter adjustment including tone and color correction
Systems and techniques for automatic digital parameter adjustment are described that leverage insights learned from an image set to automatically predict parameter values for an input item of digital visual content. To do so, the automatic digital parameter adjustment techniques described herein captures visual and contextual features of digital visual content to determine balanced visual output in a range of visual scenes and settings. The visual and contextual features of digital visual content are used to train a parameter adjustment model through machine learning techniques that captures feature patterns and interactions. The parameter adjustment model exploits these feature interactions to determine visually pleasing parameter values for an input item of digital visual content. The predicted parameter values are output, allowing further adjustment to the parameter values.
System and method for real-time tone-mapping
A method and system for tone-mapping an image includes determining a tone-curve based on a model of image contrast distortion between the input image and a tone-mapped image and tone-mapping the input image according to the determined tone-curve. Determining the tone curve includes analytically calculating values of the tone-curve that reduce the image contrast distortion within the model of image contrast distortion. A tone-mapping operator includes a noise model generator and a tone-mapping module operable to receive one or more contextual parameters. The tone-mapping module includes an edge-stopping filtering submodule for extracting a base layer and detail layer of the input image, a tone-curve generating submodule and a combining submodule for combining the base layer and detail layer. At least one of the edge-stopping filtering submodule, the tone-curve generating submodule and combining submodule is adjustable based on the contextual parameters.
Image forming apparatus controlling timing of forming measurement image based on prior measurements and density of image to be formed
An image forming apparatus comprises an image forming unit; a sensor that measures a measurement image; and a controller. The controller controls the image forming condition based on a measurement result of measuring a first measurement image; acquires information having a correlation to density variation of images to be formed by the image forming unit; controls the image forming condition based on the information; determines a first value regarding a density of an image to be formed, based on a measurement result of measuring a second measurement image; determines a second value regarding a density of the image to be formed by the image forming unit, based on the information; and controls a timing at which the image forming unit next forms the first measurement image, based on the first value and the second value.

Disclosed is a signal processing device and an image display apparatus including the same. The signal processing device includes: a linear tone mapper configured to perform linear tone mapping on a part of an input image; a non-linear tone mapper configured to perform non-linear tone mapping on another part of the input image; and a combiner configured to combine an output from the linear tone mapper and an output from the non-linear tone mapper. Accordingly, it is possible to map the dynamic range of an input image to a display.
Correcting back side image data based on positions of four corner detection marks specified using ground color luminance
An image scanner includes a conveyance path and a conveyor that conveys a medium through the conveyance path. The medium bears a detection mark that is spaced from a leading edge of the medium in a medium conveyance direction. A background member is disposed opposite the conveyance path. A luminance sensor is disposed opposite the background member via the conveyance path. The luminance sensor detects a luminance value of each of the background member and the medium. A controller controls the luminance sensor to detect the luminance value at a plurality of times while the conveyor conveys the medium so as to obtain a plurality of detected luminance values. The controller determines a ground color luminance value of a ground color area on the medium based on a determination range including a first peak luminance value among the plurality of detected luminance values.
Image processing apparatus and method evaluating print quality based on density difference data
There is provided with an information processing apparatus. A first obtaining unit obtains data of a reference image indicating a target of printing output to be performed by a printing apparatus. A second obtaining unit obtains data of an image printed by the printing apparatus. A correcting unit corrects a local image density difference or the reference image based on a global image density difference between the reference image and the printed image. An evaluating unit evaluates quality of the printed image based on the local image density difference between the corrected reference image and the printed image.
