Provided is a reading apparatus capable of preventing luminance unevenness in a reading range by correcting shading data. An original reading unit of a reading apparatus configured to read an image on an original includes a row of light receiving elements aligned in a main scanning direction orthogonal to a direction in which the original is conveyed. The reading apparatus generates shading data used in shading correction, based on the result of reading a white reference board via the original reading unit.
IMAGE READING APPARATUS AND IMAGE READING METHOD

The image reading apparatus detects whether or not an original is placed on an original tray when detecting an open state of an ADF and then detecting a closed state thereof. In a case where the original is placed on the original tray, the image reading apparatus performs shading correction for flow reading, and in a case where no original is placed on the original tray, the image reading apparatus performs shading correction for platen cover reading.

The reading unit includes a reading sensor configured to read an image of the sheet conveyed in the conveyance path through the transparent member. The support shaft supports the reading unit in a manner of moving in a moving direction orthogonal to a longitudinal direction of the reading unit. The first cable is connected to a first connecting portion disposed in the reading unit, the first cable being held by the reading unit on one side in the longitudinal direction with respect to the support shaft. The second cable is connected to a second connecting portion disposed in the reading unit, the second cable being held by the reading unit on the other side in the longitudinal direction with respect to the support shaft.

An image reading device includes: a scanner having characteristics of causing a distorted sine wave being formed by its obtained image data and being represented as an array of shade values arranged in a main scanning direction; a reference member to be scanned; a hardware processor that: obtains a shade value at each main scanning coordinate from shading reference data obtained from the reference member; detects the start and end position of a distorted waveform range in the shading reference data; defines the start and end position of a target range as the main scanning coordinates of two peaks, the two peaks being in a distorted sine wave formed by the shading reference data, the two peaks being within a predetermined reference distance to the right and left of the start and end position; and replaces a part of data in the target range with a substitute part of data.
IMAGE RECORDING DEVICE AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING IMAGE RECORDING DEVICE
An image recording device includes a recorder, a reader and a hardware processor. The recorder records an image on a recording medium. The reader reads, with an imaging element, a surface of the recording medium and a surface of a predetermined reference member. The hardware processor calibrates the reader for a value to be detected by the imaging element, based on a reading result of the reading of the surface of the reference member. Further, the hardware processor performs the calibration in at least one of: a case where a type of the image to be recorded on the recording medium satisfies a predetermined image type condition; and a case where a predetermined reading influence factor which affects a reading result of the reading of the surface of the recording medium satisfies a predetermined reading influence factor condition.
Colorimeter device and colorimetery method
A colorimetric device and a colorimetric method according to the present invention extract a chart region candidate, which is a candidate for a chart region, from an image of a color chart, obtain an evaluation value of this chart region candidate, determine whether or not the chart region candidate is the chart region based on this obtained evaluation value, obtain each position of a plurality of patches for the chart region candidate determined as the chart region as a result of the determination and colorimetrically measure each of the patches at each obtained position of the plurality of the patches.
IMAGE READING APPARATUS WITH REFERENCE SURFACE TO GENERATE REFERENCE DATA FOR SHADING CORRECTION, AND RELATED IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS AND METHOD
An image reading apparatus according to an embodiment includes an image reading unit configured to generate reference data by reading a reference surface and to generate image data by reading a sheet. A reference unit has a reference surface. A shading correction unit determines whether a portion of the reference surface includes a contaminant based on image data generated by the image reading unit reading the portion of the reference unit. When the portion of the reference surface is determined to not include a contaminant, the shading correction unit generates reference data based on the image data generated by the image reading unit reading the portion of the reference surface determined to not include a contaminant.
Image scanner with dividing member
An image scanner includes a transparent plate, a scanning device, a driving device, a positioning member, a light absorbing portion and a white reference portion. The transparent plate has an original placing surface. The scanning device irradiates an original with light by means of a light source and scans reflected light from the original. The driving device reciprocates the scanning device along the transparent plate. The positioning member positions the original placed on the original placing surface of the transparent plate. The light absorbing portion, which is disposed on the original placing surface side of the positioning member and at substantially a central portion of the positioning member in moving directions of the scanning device, absorbs ambient light entering to the original placing surface side of the positioning member through the transparent plate. The white reference portion is provided to the original placing surface side of the positioning member.
