An image forming device and an image forming system which can perform a sheet setting process for a sheet on which an image or text has already been formed, an image forming system control method, and a non-transitory computer-readable recording medium storing a program. The image forming device includes a communication section, a determination section, and a notifying section. The communication section receives, from a sheet detector for detecting a physical property value of a sheet, detected information acquired by detecting the sheet. The determination section determines whether the detected information meets a given condition or not. If the determination section determines that the given condition is not met, the notifying section notifies a user that the given condition is not met.

Image recording device with a reader and processor for calibrating the reader

An image recording device includes a recorder, a reader and a hardware processor. The recorder records an image on a recording medium. The reader reads, with an imaging element, a surface of the recording medium and a surface of a predetermined reference member. The hardware processor calibrates the reader for a value to be detected by the imaging element, based on a reading result of the reading of the surface of the reference member. Further, the hardware processor performs the calibration in at least one of: a case where a type of the image to be recorded on the recording medium satisfies a predetermined image type condition; and a case where a predetermined reading influence factor which affects a reading result of the reading of the surface of the recording medium satisfies a predetermined reading influence factor condition.

Image reading apparatus, image forming apparatus, and reading control method

An image reading apparatus includes: a light source; a reference sheet that reflects light emitted from the light source; a light-receiving lens that converges the reflected light; a reading sensor that reads the light converged by the light-receiving lens; and a hardware processor that: based on first white data obtained when the reading sensor reads the reference sheet for the first time, determines whether the reference sheet or the reading sensor has dust; in response to determining that the reference sheet or the reading sensor has dust, produces ideal initial white reference data by complementing the first white data with second white data obtained when the reading sensor reads the reference sheet for the second and subsequent times; and with the ideal initial white reference data, complements third white data obtained when the reading sensor reads the reference sheet right before reading an image of a job.

IMAGE READING APPARATUS WITH REFERENCE SURFACE TO GENERATE REFERENCE DATA FOR SHADING CORRECTION, AND RELATED IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS AND METHOD

An image reading apparatus according to an embodiment includes an image reading unit configured to generate reference data by reading a reference surface and to generate image data by reading a sheet. A reference unit has a reference surface. A shading correction unit determines whether a portion of the reference surface includes a contaminant based on image data generated by the image reading unit reading the portion of the reference unit. When the portion of the reference surface is determined to not include a contaminant, the shading correction unit generates reference data based on the image data generated by the image reading unit reading the portion of the reference surface determined to not include a contaminant.
