DUPLEX SCANNING CONTENT ALIGNMENT
There is disclosed an apparatus and method of aligning content put through a duplex scanner. By performing operations on data extracted from physical documents, digital documents that would otherwise appear skewed can be un-skewed. The process compares two images, e.g. a front and a back page for a document, and determines how they are offset from one another. The process uses a projection profile error minimization technique to calculate a translation for one or both pages to digitally align the margins for a digital document such that the margins match.
Method of compensating for printing substrate deformation in multicolor duplex printing
A method for compensating for printing substrate deformation in a multicolor duplex printing operation by way of a computer. The substrate deformation that arises when individual color separations are printed onto the first and second sides of the printing substrate in the printing units is established and compensated for in the course of an automated register correction process. The computer calculates a forecast of the substrate deformation on a basis of the established first side deformation parameters of the printing substrate. When further color separations are printed onto the second side the forecast is used as an input parameter for a compensation of the substrate deformation of the second side.
IMAGE PROCESSING APPARATUS, METHOD OF CONTROLLING THE SAME, AND STORAGE MEDIUM
An image processing apparatus according to embodiments obtains a variance value of signal values of pixels included in a predetermined region of the read image read from an original, and compares the obtained variance value with a threshold value for determining whether the read image has a halftone dot region. Furthermore, the present image processing apparatus, upon determining that the read image includes a halftone dot region in accordance with the result of this comparison, executes a first removal process for removing the reflection of an image of one surface of an original when reading the other surface, and executes a second removal process otherwise.
Image forming system, inspection device, and inspection method
An image forming system includes circuitry. The circuitry reads an inspection target image from a printed matter. The circuitry generates a difference image between the inspection target image and a comparison target image. The circuitry performs processing on the difference image using a threshold value to perform determination as to whether a defect of the printed matter is present. The circuitry calculates a threshold value for show-through at which a show-through of the printed matter is not determined as the defect of the printed matter among multiple threshold values based on a result of the determination.
ACCELERATING DIGITAL MICROSCOPY SCANS USING EMPTY/DIRTY AREA DETECTION
A microscope comprising an illumination assembly, an image capture device and a processor can be configured to selectively identify regions of a sample comprising artifacts or empty space. By selectively identifying regions of the sample that have artifacts or empty space, the amount of time to generate an image of the sample and resources used to generate the image can be decreased substantially while providing high resolution for appropriate regions of the computational image. The processor can be configured to change the imaging process in response to regions of the sample that comprises artifacts or empty space. The imaging process may comprise a higher resolution process to output higher resolution portions of the computational image for sample regions comprising valid sample material, and a lower resolution process to output lower resolution portions of the computational image for sample regions comprising valid sample material.
Image reading apparatus
There is provided an image reading apparatus including a first reading sensor provided in a first reading unit and configured to read one surface of the sheet, a second reading sensor provided in a second reading unit provided to face the first reading sensor and configured to read an image on the other surface of the sheet, a first background portion serving as a reading background of the first reading sensor, a second background portion serving as a reading background of the second reading sensor, and a moving portion configured to integrally move the first reading sensor and the second background portion, wherein the first reading unit includes a sensor case in which the first reading sensor is provided, and the sensor case is fixed to the apparatus main body.
Image acquiring apparatus and method and image forming apparatus
Disclosed is an image acquiring method. The image acquiring method includes receiving an instruction to acquire a one-side image to acquire an image on a first side of a document; obtaining a penetrated image of the first side of the document, which is seen on the second side, with a second image sensor for obtaining an image on a second side of the document, while the document is being fed; obtaining an image on the first side of the document with a first image sensor for obtaining an image on the first side of the document, while the document is being fed; and processing the image on the first side based on the penetrated image of the first side.
Image processing apparatus, control method, and program storage medium that convert gray highlight color values from not targeted to being targeted for background color removal
An image processing apparatus has a first color conversion unit that converts a signal value at an achromatic grid point in a first color space among achromatic grid points in a color space, the signal value being closer to white than a first predetermined signal value, into a signal value that is even closer to white, and a second color conversion unit that converts a signal value at a grid point among grid points in the color space, the signal value being closer to white than a second predetermined signal value, into white are provided. The image processing apparatus converts a signal value of an input image using the first color conversion unit, and thereafter converting the signal value using the second color conversion unit.
Image Processing Apparatus, Image Processing Method, and Recording Medium
An image processing apparatus includes an image data receiving unit, an image analysis unit, and an image processing unit. The image data receiving unit receives image data representing an input image. The image analysis unit analyzes the input image data, detects an image region representing a drawing target from the input image, and identifies a background image region as an image region excluding the detected image region representing the drawing target. The image processing unit extracts a show-through image from the background image region, adjusts a lightness of the extracted show-through image, and decreases a visibility of the show-through image while maintaining an image of the image region representing the drawing target.
