An image forming apparatus includes an activator, a command storage device and a controller. The activator activates a customer ID received by a UI, out of customer IDs stored in a customer ID storage device. The command storage device stores the activated customer ID in association with command information received by the UI. The controller changes a function setting of the image forming apparatus, according to the command information received from an external device, despite a security level being set to a high level, when function information included in the command information received from the external device via a communication device accords with the function information included in changeable command information stored in the command storage device.

A configuration is provided in which in a case where a user operation is performed on an image forming apparatus or a data processing apparatus while the image forming apparatus and the data processing apparatus are operating in cooperation with each other, the automatic clearing timers of both the apparatuses are reset.

Embodiments of the disclosure include an image forming device that: receives job information for executing a function of the image forming device from a terminal, the job information including user information; based on the user information included in the received job information, determines whether a user corresponding to the user information is permitted to use a function specified by the job information; in response to a determination that the user is permitted to use the function, executes a job based on the job information; and in response to a determination that the user is not permitted to use the function, notifies the terminal of an error. Using user information included in job information sent from the terminal, whether a corresponding user has the right to execute a job is determined, and if the user has no right, the terminal is notified of an error.

An image reading apparatus includes a scanner, an operation panel, a communication interface, and a processor. The scanner is configured to read an image of a document. The operation panel is configured to designate a transmission destination of scan data, the scan data including image data of the document read by the scanner. The communication interface is configured to transmit the scan data to the transmission destination designated on the operation panel. The processor is configured to transmit the scan data to the transmission destination without a password in response to the transmission destination designated on the operation panel being a transmission destination of an operator who operates the operation panel, and transmit the scan data protected with a password to the transmission destination in response to the transmission destination designated on the operation panel including a transmission destination of any person other than the operator.

A multi-function device (MFD) is disclosed. For example, the MFD includes a communication interface to establish a communication path with an authentication server, a user interface to receive document control information for a document to be generated, a processor, and a non-transitory computer-readable medium storing a plurality of instructions. The instructions when executed by the processor cause the processor to generate a machine readable code that contains the document control information for the document and print the machine readable code onto the document that is printed by the MFD.

Techniques for receiving a scan request and creating a proxy scan job by imaging devices are described. According to the present subject matter, a scan request is received from a contact identifier. Further, a proxy scan job corresponding to the scan request is created. Thereafter, a password corresponding to the scan request is generated and transmitted to the contact identifier.

A processor of a server is configured to receiving a first registration request from a terminal, storing first account and first authentication data in a memory of the server in association with each other, transmitting the first authentication data to terminal, receiving a third registration request from a communication device, storing device identification data and second authentication data in the memory in association with each other, transmitting the second authentication data to the communication device, receiving a fourth registration request including the first authentication data and the second authentication data, and storing the first account data associated with the first authentication data included in the fourth registration request and the device identification data associated with the second authentication data included in the fourth registration request in the memory in association with each other.

A server includes memory, a request receiver, a first transmitter, a second transmitter, and a first memory controller. The memory includes a first table to store first identification information identifying a communication device and first user information in association with each other. In response to a reset instruction to reset first identification information being input at a communication device storing the first identification information, the request receiver receive the first identification information, and an identification information request from the communication device. The first transmitter transmits second identification information different from the first identification information to the communication device. The second transmitter transmits the first identification information to the communication device, the first identification information being to be stored in the communication device instead of the second identification information. The first memory allows the first table to store the second identification information and second user information in association with each other.

An image-forming apparatus includes a controller, a storage, and a communicator. The controller establishes a connection with a terminal device through the communicator by QUIC, stores, in the storage, identification information for identifying the connection and key information to be used for encryption of transmission/reception information transmitted and received to and from the terminal device, performs communication of the transmission/reception information with the terminal device through HTTP/3, and establishes, when the connection with the terminal device is disconnected, a connection with the terminal device using the identification information and the key information so that the communication of the transmission/reception information with the terminal device is resumed.

Techniques for signer-initiated electronic document signing via an electronic signature service using a mobile or other client device are described. Example embodiments provide an electronic signature service (“ESS”) configured to facilitate the creation, storage, and management of documents and corresponding electronic signatures. In some embodiments, when a signer user receives a hard copy (e.g., paper) signature document, the signer may capture an image of the signature document with a camera of a mobile device. The signer can then import the captured image into the ESS for signature, storage, and/or transmission to other parties.
