A multifunction peripheral includes a control unit that, when a registered user is using the multifunction peripheral, causes an operation panel to display information concerning an optional function that can be added to the multifunction peripheral, receives, with the operation panel, an evaluation of the user for the optional function, when receiving, with a communication I/F, an acquisition request for an evaluation for the optional function, generates an evaluation result obtained by aggregating evaluations of a plurality of registered users, and transmits the generated evaluation result to a transmission source of the acquisition request.

A policy-based system is implemented to allow access to a private domain to print using a public domain. The private domain includes private servers that store documents. The public domain includes servers and a printing device. A public policy server uses a domain list and a protocol connection with a private authentication server to validate a user and identify which private domain to access. The public policy server receives requests from the printing device to process a print job of a document in the private domain. The policy-based system also determines whether scanning operations for a document are allowed for a public scan service using remaining credit values and the policy. The public scan service is cloud-based and includes a public server to interact with printing devices through the cloud-based service.

A communication system comprising an information processing apparatus and a mobile terminal, wherein when the mobile terminal receives a packet transmitted from the information processing apparatus, it determines whether or not a login condition for transmitting a login request is satisfied based on a received signal strength of the packet, and it transmits the login request to the information processing apparatus in a case where it determines that the login condition is satisfied, and does not transmit the login request to the information processing apparatus in a case where it is determines that the login condition is not satisfied.

A communication system comprising an information processing apparatus and a mobile terminal, wherein when the mobile terminal receives a packet transmitted from the information processing apparatus, it determines whether or not a login condition for transmitting a login request is satisfied based on a received signal strength of the packet, and it transmits the login request to the information processing apparatus in a case where it determines that the login condition is satisfied, and does not transmit the login request to the information processing apparatus in a case where it is determines that the login condition is not satisfied.

An image processing apparatus includes a request determining unit receiving an operation event indicating a request to use an image processing function and determining whether the request is from a guest user based on the received operation event; a guest login processing unit generating guest login information including a guest user identifier and access right information of the guest user if the request is from the guest user and sending a login request to request a login process for the guest user based on the guest login information; an access control unit disabling access control on the image processing function in response to the login request based on the access right information in the guest login information; and a usage history recording unit recording a usage history of the image processing function in association with the guest user based on the guest user identifier in the guest login information.

In a mediation server a processor registers association information and the authentication information for receiving a service from a service provider server to be correlated with each other. The association information is concerned with first and second communication apparatuses. When a first request including the association information is received from the first communication apparatus, the processor performs first communication with the first communication apparatus and the service provider server by using the first authentication information. An apparatus, system, and method of controlling transmission of an image, each of which: displays, on a display, an image to a plurality of users, the plurality of users sharing a use of the shared terminal; obtains, from a first privately-owned terminal owned by a first user of the plurality of users, first terminal identification information for identifying the first privately-owned terminal; transmits an authentication request for authenticating the first privately-owned terminal to a terminal management server, the authentication request including the first terminal identification information of the first privately-owned terminal; receives an authentication result of authenticating the first privately-owned terminal from the terminal management server; and when the authentication result indicates that the first privately-owned terminal is a legitimate terminal, and transmits a print request for printing data relating to the image being displayed to a printer through a network.

An information processing device that performs an authentication to authenticate a user and controls operations of an image processing device based on a result of the authentication, comprising: an application that accesses the image processing device and performs a process to enable the image processing device to operate; and an authentication server that performs the authentication to authenticate the user and sends application information relating to the application to the image processing device when successfully authenticating the user through the authentication. The application generates an access request including information relating to the application and sends the generated access request to the image processing device when accessing the image processing device in response to an instruction given by the authenticated user who is successfully authenticated through the authentication.
