Image forming system that restrains increase of print data amount, image forming apparatus, and recording medium
An image forming system prints an image including a plurality of objects. At least a part of the objects overlap with one another. The image forming system includes a computer and an image forming apparatus. The image forming apparatus includes a rendering circuit. When the rendering circuit processes the image object, the rendering circuit enhances a resolution of a part corresponding to the object in the image object based on a shape of the object overlapped at an upper side in the image object. When the rendering circuit enhances the resolution of the part corresponding to the object in the image object, the rendering circuit decides a color of the boundary based on the color information.

METHOD FOR DENSITY COMPENSATION BY DROP SIZE ADAPTATION
A method for modifying color density values in a dot-based printing system uses a control unit. The control unit implements the modification of the color density values after a raster image has been created and modifies the number and/or size of print dots to be applied to a printing substrate in order to attain pre-defined color density target values.
Registration of separations
Separations or images relating to film or other fields may be registered using a variety of features, such as, for example: (1) correcting one or more film distortions; (2) automatically determining a transformation to reduce a film distortion; (3) applying multiple criteria of merit to a set of features to determine a set of features to use in determining a transformation; (4) determining transformations for areas in an image or a separation in a radial order; (5) comparing areas in images or separations by weighting feature pixels differently than non-feature pixels; (6) determining distortion values for transformations by applying a partial distortion measure and/or using a spiral search configuration; (7) determining transformations by using different sets of features to determine corresponding transformation parameters in an iterative manner; and (8) applying a feathering technique to neighboring areas within an image or separation.

Image processing apparatus, method, and medium
An image process to be performed on an edge of a character or a line is not performed on pixels included in a mosaic image.

DOCUMENT TYPE RECOGNITION APPARATUS, IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS, DOCUMENT TYPE RECOGNITION METHOD, AND COMPUTER PROGRAM PRODUCT
A document type recognition apparatus includes an image region separation unit, a smoothing unit, an edge enhancement unit, a histogram creation unit, and a document type recognition unit. The image region separation unit outputs a signal indicative of each region obtained by separating an input image into a character region and a pattern region. The smoothing unit performs smoothing processing to remove halftone dots of a particular number of lines or greater in the pattern region of the input image. The edge enhancement unit outputs an image subjected to edge enhancement processing depending on an amount of edge on an edge portion of the character region in the input image subjected to the smoothing processing. The histogram creation unit creates a histogram of the image subjected to the edge enhancement processing. The document type recognition unit recognizes a document type of the input image by utilizing the histogram.

The at least one processor or circuitry or the combination thereof is configured to acquire image data and extract a feature element from the image data. The at least one processor or circuitry or the combination thereof is further configured to determine whether the extracted feature element satisfies conditions defined in the determination conditions. The at least one processor or circuitry or the combination thereof is further configured to set an area with reference to an extracted feature element satisfying the conditions based on the determination conditions. The at least one processor or circuitry or the combination thereof is further configured to set an attribute of the area based on the determination conditions.
