DISPLAY DEVICE AND OPERATING METHOD THEREOF
20170237931 · 2017-08-17 ·

A display device includes: a display unit configured to display an image of media content; an external device interface unit configured to receive an image signal outputted from an external device connected to the display device; and a control unit configured to control the display unit and the external device interface unit. The control unit displays a plurality of external input items, receives an instruction for positioning a pointer to one item among the plurality of external input items, displays a plurality of external input switching options on an external input item where the pointer is disposed according to the received instruction, and performs a function corresponding to a selected external input switching option among the plurality of external input switching options based on the image signal outputted from the external device.

User defined rules for assigning destinations of content

A media guidance application is provided by which users can define rules for assigning user equipment devices as destinations for media content. For example, a user may define a rule by which selected media content having attributes that satisfy a user-defined condition are downloaded, recorded, or streamed to a particular, user-specified user equipment device. The user may define and manage rules using media guidance menus, and may restrict other users from accessing the rules (e.g., parents restricting children).

In one example, an image processing device includes a reduction scaler unit that reduces or maintains the image data of an input image. An enlargement scaler unit enlarges or maintains the image data and outputs the image data as the image data of an output image. The reduction scaler unit converts the resolution of the input image to an intermediate resolution in accordance with first image parameters related to an image to be supplied from the enlargement scaler unit, the intermediate resolution being a resolution for performing writing on the memory unit. The enlargement scaler unit converts the intermediate resolution of a memory-held image read from the memory unit to the resolution of the output image, in accordance with second image parameters related to an image to be supplied from the reduction scaler unit.

HIGH RESOLUTION USER INTERFACE
20170230603 · 2017-08-10 · ·

An approach for providing a user interface having a resolution corresponding to a resolution of a high resolution content is provided. The approach allocates at least one partial frame buffer based on a size and a location of a region on a screen of a display on which a user interface (UI) is displayed. The approach displays the UI based on at least one piece of partial graphic data obtained from the allocated at least one partial frame buffer.

System and method for construction, delivery and display of iTV applications that blend programming information of on-demand and broadcast service offerings

A user interface allows for blending of television program choices from which a viewer may select, the blending representing options for linear and non-linear programming presented together within a single hierarchy of a designated category. The blending may further include managed content relevant to the designated category, where desired. Such designated categories may include television programming categories and/or content categories. The options for linear and non-linear programming may be presented together within a single screen of the user interface.

Program, display apparatus, television receiver, display method, and display system

A television receiver segments a part of an image depending on image information received from a communication device and pixel information representing the number of pixels in a longitudinal direction and a lateral direction of the image. The television receiver judges a size between the number of pixels in the longitudinal direction and that in the lateral direction in the pixel information, and when it is judged that the number of pixels in the longitudinal direction is larger than that in the lateral direction, displays two screens in which the segmented image and another image are juxtaposed on a display unit. Meanwhile, when it is judged that the number of pixels in the longitudinal direction is not larger than that in the lateral direction, the television receiver receives a signal designating the number of screens to be displayed on the display unit and displays the two screens in which the segmented image and another image are juxtaposed or one screen of the segmented image on the display unit depending on the received signal.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR RECORDING VIEWER REACTION TO VIDEO CONTENT

A system and method for automatically recording viewer reactions to viewed video content. The system and method utilize a system that responds to pre-tagged segments of video content. Upon recognition of such a tagged segment, a video camera is activated to capture the viewer response. A composite video of the captured viewer response and the segment of viewed video is then created. The viewer is notified that the composite video has been created. The system and method also provide the viewer with options to share the video via social media.
