Image display method and electronic device
An image display method, adapted to an electronic device having a screen, an image capturing unit, and a light sensor, includes the following steps. A preview image captured by the image capturing unit is received and processed so as to generate a plurality of pixel luminance values of the preview image. A light illumination of an ambient light detected by the light sensor is received. An output Gamma lookup table among a plurality of Gamma lookup table is selected according to the pixel luminance values and the light illumination of the ambient light. An adjusted pixel luminance value corresponding to each of the pixel luminance values is generated based on the output Gamma lookup table so as to accordingly display the preview image on the screen with sunlight readability. An electronic device is further provided in the invention to implement the above method.
DISPLAY DEVICE VIEWING ANGLE COMPENSATION
Various embodiments for compensating for user view angle of a display device are presented. The viewing angle of a user may be determined using sensors. Based on the viewing angle, the attenuation of the output of the display device may be determined. Compensation mode for the display output may be determined. The compensation mode may adjust the output of the display to compensate for the display attenuation allowing an improved image quality at large viewing angles.
DISPLAY DEVICE VIEWING ANGLE COMPENSATION
Various embodiments for compensating for user view angle of a display device are presented. The viewing angle of a user may be determined using sensors. Based on the viewing angle, the attenuation of the output of the display device may be determined. Compensation mode for the display output may be determined. The compensation mode may adjust the output of the display to compensate for the display attenuation allowing an improved image quality at large viewing angles.

According to one implementation, a system for supplementing entertainment content with ambient lighting includes a computing platform having a hardware processor and a memory storing a software code. The hardware processor is configured to execute the software code to receive an entertainment content, detect one or more attributes of the entertainment content that correspond to an artistic intent of a producer of the entertainment content, and interpret the artistic intent of the producer of the entertainment content using the detected one or more attributes. The hardware processor is further configured to execute the software code to compose an ambient lighting routine as a supplement to the entertainment content based on the interpreted artistic intent.

Disclosed are a display apparatus and a method of controlling the same. a display apparatus including: a display; an optical sensor; and a processor configured to: identify an operation cycle shorter than an idle section of an infrared (IR) signal and including at least a part of a section for a detection operation of the optical sensor, based on the IR signal of which a signal section corresponding to a user key input and the idle section are repeated on a predetermined cycle, control the optical sensor to repetitively perform the detection operation on the identified operation cycle, and perform a predetermined operation based on a detection value obtained by the detection operation of the optical sensor.

An electronic device has pixels that form an active area of a display for displaying images for a user. A layer of black ink or other opaque material may be formed on an inner surface of a display cover layer in an inactive area of the display that does not overlap pixels. The housing may have sidewalls such as a rear housing wall that faces away from the display. Ambient light sensor windows may be formed from tapered holes or other holes. The tapered holes may be formed in the opaque material on the display cover layer, may be formed in a rear housing wall or other hosing structure, or may be formed in other portions of the electronic device. Non-tapered holes may also form windows. Tapered holes may have sidewalls with portions that run parallel to their longitudinal axes and portions that are angled relative to their longitudinal axes.
