System and method for presenting virtual reality content to a user
10368045 · 2019-07-30 · ·

This disclosure describes a system configured to present primary and secondary, tertiary, etc., virtual reality content to a user. Primary virtual reality content may be displayed to a user, and, responsive to the user turning his view away from the primary virtual reality content, a sensory cue is provided to the user that indicates to the user that his view is no longer directed toward the primary virtual reality content, and secondary, tertiary, etc., virtual reality content may be displayed to the user. Primary virtual reality content may resume when the user returns his view to the primary virtual reality content. Primary virtual reality content may be adjusted based on a user's interaction with the secondary, tertiary, etc., virtual reality content. Secondary, tertiary, etc., virtual reality content may be adjusted based on a user's progression through the primary virtual reality content, or interaction with the primary virtual reality content.

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR CONTROLLING VIRTUAL REALITY ATTRACTION
20190217210 · 2019-07-18 ·

A method and system are used to control a virtual reality attraction that allows a user to experience virtual reality on the basis of the movements of a machine component onto which a user is boarding and image data displayed through an image component to a user. The method includes generating real image contents including real image data photographed by a user's mobile terminal, and metadata including time data and positional data at the time of photographing the real image data. The real image contents are received by the virtual reality attraction as control contents. The virtual reality attraction is controlled to drive the movement of the machine component on the basis of the metadata and at the same time synchronously display the real image data on the image component on the basis of the metadata.

Display device

A display device that includes an attachment part mountable on a head of a user, a control device to control the attachment part, and a transmission cable to connect the attachment part with the control device, further includes an imager; a first converter configured to convert a digital signal from the imager into an analog signal; a second converter configured to convert the analog signal into a video signal; a laser light generator configured to generate a laser light modulated depending on the video signal; an optical scanner configured to scan the laser light; and an optical projection system configured to project the scanned laser light to form an image. The imager, the first converter, the optical scanner, and the optical projection system are placed in the attachment part. The second converter and the laser light generator are placed in the control device. The analog signal and the laser light are transmitted via the transmission cable.

INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS, INFORMATION PROCESSING METHOD, AND IMAGE DISPLAY SYSTEM

A wide angle image to be displayed on a screen fixed on the head or the face of a user is processed. When a display view angle reaches a boundary of an original wide angle image 701, an indicator 703 indicating reaching the boundary is added to a free viewpoint image 702. The indicator 703 is a part of the free viewpoint image 702 which is in contact with a boundary 704 of the wide angle image 701 or protrudes from the boundary 704 and is displayed as a black-painted frame. By observing such the indicator 703, the user can intuitively understand that the display area reaches the limit of the wide angle image.

Display control device, display control method, and computer program

There is provided a display control device capable of ensuring the user's field of vision while keeping the user safe when the user is using a see-through head-mounted display, the display control device including: a situation acquisition unit configured to acquire information about a situation where a see-through display is being used, and a display control unit configured to perform display control on the see-through display using the information acquired by the situation acquisition unit so that a display of the information on the see-through display gradually becomes clearly visible.

Eyeglass-type display apparatus

An eyeglass-type display apparatus includes an eyeglass-front to be placed in front of the eyes of a user, left and right temples connected to the eyeglass-front and worn on the head of the user, a connector that adjusts the inclination of the eyeglass-front by rotating the eyeglass-front relative to the left and right temples, and an image display unit that is fixed to the eyeglass-front and projects image light onto an eyeball of the user. An axis of rotation of the connector is positioned on the eyeglass-front side of the center of the user's eyeball as viewed from the side.

HEAD-MOUNTED DISPLAY

A head-mounted display configured to enhance the ease of wearing work and the stability of wearing is provided. A wearing band has an extending section and a movable section that is movable relative to the extending section in the length direction of the wearing band. A locking mechanism is capable of switching the wearing band between an unlocked state in which the movements of the movable section in the extending direction in which the length of the wearing band is increased and in the retracting direction in which the length of the wearing band is decreased are allowed and a locked state in which the movement of the movable section in the extending direction is restricted. The movable section is urged at least in the retracting direction in an unlocked state.
