According to a preferred aspect of the invention, there is provided a system and method that allows a user to implement dynamic video editing in real time during the recording of a video. The user chooses a theme and associated styles/effects, etc., which are immediately applied to the video as it is recorded so that results are visible as soon as the recording is finished. The associated music defines the recording time of the video and changes in the character of the music are used to select effect markers positions at which the user will be able to apply or implement effects. The inventive system handles the selection, definition, implementation and placement of effects by the user and applies those effects in real time which provides an output at the conclusion of the recording that is immediately available for further use or distribution by the user.

A method of classifying video data representing activity within a space to be monitored. A method comprises storing video data obtained from a camera configured to monitor the space. Sensor data indicative of a condition occurring within the space is obtained, and a plurality of programme elements are defined within the video data. Each programme element has an associated classification code, and each classification code is selected using the sensor data.

An image processing apparatus includes a generation unit configured to generate moving image data containing a plurality of frames, an acquisition unit configured to acquire position information, an association unit configured to associate the position information acquired by the acquisition unit with a corresponding frame in the plurality of frames in the moving image data generated by the generation unit, and a reception unit configured to receive an instruction for switching a setting as to whether a function of acquiring the position information by the acquisition unit is made to be enabled or disabled. The association unit associates information based on whether the function of acquiring the position information is enabled with the plurality of frames.

An athletic parameter measurement device worn by an athlete during an athletic activity session includes a housing which attaches to the athlete, a display, a processor associated with the display, and an athletic parameter measurement sensor. During the athletic activity, the device detects, using the sensor, a vertical jump height of the athlete, and displays, during the performance of the athletic activity session, a representation of the vertical jump height on the display.

A signature to be used to verify whether or not an original version video captured by a camera has been altered is assigned in the camera to improve the evidential quality of the original version video captured by the camera. The camera (2) includes: an image pickup unit that captures a video of an area to be monitored; a CPU that generates, using a portion or the entirety of video data of the area to be monitored captured by the image pickup unit, a signature for verifying whether or not the video data have been altered; and a network communication unit that sequentially transmits, to a client terminal (4), signed video data obtained by assigning the signature generated by the CPU to the video data. Techniques are described for optimizing memory used by a video decoder. A residual coefficient matrix including non-zero value residual coefficients of a larger parent matrix with both non-zero and zero value residual coefficients can be provided to the decoder. Residual coefficient matrix metadata can also be provided so that a modified and reduced inverse transform matrix can be selected and applied to the residual coefficient matrix.
