INFORMATION PROCESSING DEVICE AND METHOD
The present technology relates to an information processing device and a method capable of adaptively providing a partial image of an image in each layer of an image constituted by a plurality of layers. The information processing device of the present technology generates a file that stores information on a whole of a base layer of encoded data produced by layer encoding of image data, information on each of partial areas of an image of the base layer, information on a whole of an enhancement layer of the encoded data, and information on each of partial areas of an image of the enhancement layer such that each of the information is stored in corresponding one of tracks different from each other. The present technology is applicable to an information processing device, an image processing device, an image encoding device, or an image decoding device, for example.

Data recording device and method relating to a time shifting function on a recording medium
The invention relates to a device and a method for recording data on a recording medium. The invention relates to the implementation of the timeshift function in a part of said recording medium called the timeshift buffer memory having a size defined in terms of recording capacity. For the timeshift buffer memory, a first threshold defines a capacity limit, a second threshold defines a recording time limit. The device records the data in the timeshift buffer memory as long as the second threshold is not reached and when the second threshold is reached before the first threshold, the processor truncates the start of the timeshift buffer memory when the data being read are not located at the start of the buffer memory or moves to reading the data of the timeshift buffer memory when the data being read are located at the start of the timeshift buffer memory.
SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM AND METHOD OF CONTROLLING THE SAME
A surveillance system including a surveillance server and at least one network camera is provided. The network camera includes: a camera configured to capture images of a monitoring area; a communication interface configured to communicate with a server and a beacon terminal; and a processor configured to transmit a first beacon signal to the beacon terminal to receive a second beacon signal corresponding to the first beacon signal from the beacon terminal, generate beacon information and image information in response to receiving the second beacon signal, and transmit the beacon information and the image information to the server via the communication interface, wherein the beacon information includes location information of the beacon terminal, and the image information includes an image of a monitoring target that carries the beacon terminal.
Method and apparatus for composition of subtitles
Embodiments of the invention include a subtitling format encompassing elements of enhanced syntax and semantic to provide improved animation capabilities. The disclosed elements improve subtitle performance without stressing the available subtitle bitrate. This will become essential for authoring content of high-end HDTV subtitles in pre-recorded format, which can be broadcast or stored on high capacity optical media, e.g. the Blue-ray Disc. Embodiments of the invention include abilities for improved authoring possibilities for the content production to animate subtitles. For subtitles that are separate from AV material, a method includes using one or more superimposed subtitle layers, and displaying only a selected part of the transferred subtitles at a time. Further, colors of a selected part of the displayed subtitles may be modified, e.g. highlighted.
Altering presentation of received content based on use of closed captioning elements as reference locations
A content receiver receives an captioning element and positional information regarding segments of a content instance. The captioning element corresponds to a component of captioning data included in content that can be utilized with the positional information to locate where the segments stop and/or start. The content receiver analyzes the content based on the captioning element and the positional information and alters how the content will be presented. Such alteration may involve skipping and/or deleting segments, starting/stopping presentation of content other than at the beginning and/or end of the content, altering recording timers, and/or replacing segments with alternative segments. In some implementations, the content may be recorded as part of recording multiple content instances received via at least one broadcast from a content provider wherein the multiple content instances are all included in a same frequency band of the broadcast and are all encoded utilizing a same control word.
Renderable content partitioning and portability
A mobile device controls content partitioning at a separate renderable content storage device of an item of renderable content into multiple partitioned content segments that are each less in size than the entire item of renderable content and that each fit within available memory of the mobile device. The mobile device renders on a display device of the mobile device multiple received content partition identifiers that each identify one partitioned content segment. The mobile device retrieves from the separate renderable content storage device a partitioned content segment of the item of renderable content identified by a user-selected content partition identifier. The mobile device renders the partitioned content segment. The mobile device automatically retrieves, in response to completion of rendering of the partitioned content segment, a second partitioned content segment using a second content partition identifier of the received multiple content partition identifiers.
