High definition television signal compatibility verification
A system for providing television (TV) service including high definition television (HDTV) service, and for providing verification that a subscriber has connected an HDTV to the system includes a TV service provider headend and a set top box (STB). The HDTV may have an HDTV digital video interface (DVI) interconnect. The STB may be electrically coupled to the headend and have an STB DVI interconnect. When the HDTV DVI interconnect is initially electrically coupled to the STB DVI interconnect, the HDTV generally presents a data signal to the STB and the STB generally presents the data signal to the headend.
MoCA entry device
An entry device includes an entry port, a filter connected to the entry port, a plurality of first output ports, and a plurality of second output ports. A first path extends from the entry port, through the filter, to the first output ports. The first path is configured to pass cable television (CATV) signals therethrough and to prevent at least a portion of multimedia over coax alliance (MoCA) signals from passing therethrough. A second path extends from the entry port, through the filter, to the second output ports. The second path is configured to prevent at least a portion of the CATV signals and at least a portion of the MoCA signals from passing therethrough. A third path extends from the first output ports, through the filter, to the second output ports. The third path is configured to pass the MoCA signals therethrough and to prevent at least a portion of the CATV signals from passing therethrough.
ISSUE REPORTING BY A RECEIVING DEVICE
A technique is described for improved issue reporting by a receiving device such as a set-top boxes for satellite and cable television services. In an example embodiment, the receiving device generates an issue report based on internal operational logs, captured screens and/or video of a visual output, and a recording of the user's voice that includes a description of the issue they are experiencing. This issue report can be generated as an object file that can then be transmitted, via a communications network, to an issue reporting platform for processing, for example, by a technical support representative or an automated troubleshooting system.
Leakage Detection for Cable TV Systems with Upstream Signals above 118 MHz
A method of using customer premise cable modem equipment to generate a signal that can be used for leakage detection. Various signal types are described which are usable for the purposes of leakage detection.
Cable Modem and Control Apparatus, Control Device and Control Device for a Cable Modem
Examples relate to a control apparatus, control device and control method for a cable modem, and to a cable modem. The control apparatus or control device comprises interface circuitry or communication means for communicating with one or more other components of the cable modem, and processing circuitry or processing means that is configured to obtain information on a temperature of a power amplifier or power amplification means of the cable modem from temperature measurement circuitry or temperature measurement means of the cable modem, and to control a duty cycle of the power amplifier based on the information on the temperature.
CATV device with resistive signal distribution network
The present invention is directed to a CATV & MoCA® device, such as a RF signal amplifier. The RF signal amplifier includes a RF input port to receive signals from, and transmit signals to, a service provider. The RF input port is connected to an active communication path with a downstream signal amplifier leading to an input of a resistive splitter network. The resistive splitter network has plural interconnected resistors, which split the amplified signal received at the input of the resistive splitter network and provide the signal to plural “CATV & MoCA®” output ports. Upstream CATV signals received by the “CATV & MoCA®” output ports are combined by the resistive splitter network and sent to the RF input port to be transmitted to the service provider. MoCA® signals received by any one of the “CATV & MoCA®” output ports are carried by the resistive splitter network to the other “CATV & MoCA®” output ports, and potentially to other “MoCA® only” ports of the RF signal amplifier.
Directional coupler assembly
An apparatus includes a plurality of ports, a directional coupler transformer and an impedance circuit. The directional coupler transformer may be configured to (i) receive a forward input signal from a first port of the plurality of ports, (ii) generate a coupled signal at a second port of the plurality of ports, (iii) generate a forward output signal and receive a return signal at a third port of the plurality of ports and (iv) generate an internal signal at an internal node. The impedance circuit may be directly connected to the internal node and configured to direct the internal signal to a signal ground to control an isolation between the forward input signal and the return input signal. The isolation is controlled by an impedance of the impedance circuit.
Intelligent tap with dynamically configurable amplifier gain
Methods and systems for an intelligent tap with dynamically configurable amplifier gain. The intelligent tap includes a filter configured to process a signal received from a service provider system via a hybrid fiber-coaxial network, an amplifier connected to the filter, the amplifier configured to apply a feedback controlled gain value to the signal to generate an output signal, where the feedback controlled gain value is based on a comparison of a target signal strength to a sampled output signal strength, and a signal strength measuring component connected to the amplifier in a feedback loop, the signal strength measuring component configured to sample the output signal, and compare a signal strength of a sampled output signal to the target signal strength to generate the feedback controlled gain value, where application of the feedback controlled gain value maintains the output signal at a constant amplitude pursuant to the target signal strength.
COMMUNICATION DEVICE, COMMUNICATION SYSTEM AND COMMUNICATION METHOD
A communication apparatus includes: a communication unit that performs signal transmission to and from a communication partner apparatus; and a communication control unit that changes a signal ratio in a first direction to the communication partner apparatus and a signal ratio in a second direction from the communication partner apparatus in accordance with a signal transmission state with the communication partner apparatus.
