A method for compressing geometric data and video is disclosed. The method includes receiving video and associated geometric data for a physical location, generating a background video from the video, and generating background geometric data for the geometric data outside of a predetermined distance from a capture point for the video as a skybox sphere at a non-parallax distance. The method further includes generating a geometric shape for a first detected object within the predetermined distance from the capture point from the geometric data, generating shape textures for the geometric shape from the video, and encoding the background video and shape textures as compressed video along with the geometric shape and the background geometric data as encoded volumetric video.

THREE-DIMENTIONAL DISPLAY SYSTEM BASED ON DIVISION MULTIPLEXING OF VIEWER'S ENTRANCE-PUPIL AND DISPLAY METHOD THEREOF
20170310954 · 2017-10-26 · ·

The invention features techniques and systems for presenting two or more perspective views to each eye of the viewer, through division multiplexing of the viewer's entrance-pupil. The system is constituted by a selective-aperture array with each aperture being transparent only to light beams with some special characteristics, at least one display screen for optical information presentation, and other optional elements. The optical message on at least one display screen propagates to the selective-aperture array directly, or be directed to the selective-aperture array or the eye of the viewer by other optional elements. Through selective filtering by the apertures with temporal filtering characteristics or exclusive filtering characteristics, multiple perspective views get presented to an eye of the viewer through the selective-aperture array. Light rays different perspective views superimpose into real spatial light spots that the eye can focus on naturally, resulting in overcoming of the accommodation-convergence conflict.

METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR FULL-COLOR THREE-DIMENSIONAL IMAGE DISPLAY

Methods and systems for displaying full-color three-dimensional imagery are provided. A first color set, having a first color spectrum, is defined to include a first set of LEDs. The first color set is assigned to a first color-coded image perspective. A second color set, having a second color spectrum, is defined to include a second set of LEDs. The second color set is assigned to a second color-coded image perspective. The full-color three-dimensional imagery is caused by activating, alternatively, at least two LEDs of the first color set or the second color set and one LED of a remaining color set and displaying the three-dimensional image based on the first image perspective and the second image perspective.

3-dimensional image display device

A 3-dimensional image display device includes a signal controller, a data driver, a display panel, and glasses. The signal controller includes a reference gamma data generator to correct image data. The data driver includes a gray voltage generator to generate a gray voltage based on the corrected image data. The display panel displays left-eye and right-eye images based on a data voltage from the data driver. The lenses of the glasses are controlled by a glasses synchronization signal from the signal controller, to compensate for charging rates of the left-eye and right-eye images.

The disclosure features three-dimensional stereoscopic imaging systems and methods that include two image capture devices configured to obtain images of a scene, at least one display screen, and an electronic processor configured to: receive one or more images of the scene from the capture devices, where each of the one or more images includes a lateral dimension and a height; warp the one or more images along their respective lateral dimensions to at least partially correct for disparity distortions associated with displaying the one or more images on the at least one display screen; correct the one or more images by scaling the respective heights of the images along the lateral dimensions of the images so that the height of each image is the same along the images lateral dimension; and display the warped and corrected one or more images on the at least one display screen.

APPARATUS FOR REPLAYING CONTENT USING GAZE RECOGNITION AND METHOD THEREOF

Disclosed is a technology applicable to stereoscopic three-dimensional image content replaying. More particularly, a technology for alleviating user's discomfort, such as dizziness, or eye fatigue when using a stereoscopic three-dimensional display is disclosed. The apparatus for replaying content according to the present disclosure is at least temporarily by a computer and includes an operation unit that calculates a three-dimensional coordinate using gaze information obtained through gaze-tracking; an extraction unit that extracts a focal length corresponding to the calculated three-dimensional coordinate; and a processing unit that collects at least one of a perspective and a focus in a content for stereoscopic three-dimensional displays based on the calculated focal length.

Systems and methods for temporal anti-aliasing

A method for providing imagery to a user on a display includes receiving head tracking data and using the head tracking data to determine a change in an orientation of a user's head. The method also includes blending pixels of a previous frame with corresponding pixels of a current frame. The corresponding pixels of the current frame are identified using the change in the orientation of the user's head. The method also includes providing foveated imagery to the user on the display using the blended pixels and multiple tiles.

Display device

The display device includes a display panel on which sub-pixel pairs are arranged in a lateral direction, and a parallax barrier shutter panel on which sub-openings that can be changed between a light transmittance state and a light-shielding state are arranged in a lateral direction. Arbitrary allocated number of adjacent sub-openings among the plural sub-openings belonging to a reference parallax barrier pitch are put into a light transmittance state, and the remaining sub-openings are put into a light-shielding state, so that a general opening is formed on the parallax barrier shutter panel. A sub-opening pitch of the sub-opening on the boundary part between the adjacent common driving areas is different from the sub-opening pitch of the other sub-openings.
