In accordance with embodiments, a method of transmitting a video includes inter-view redundancy removing pictures for multiple viewing positions; packing inter-view redundancy removed pictures; and/or encoding the packed pictures and/or signaling information including center view generation information, pre-generation information, view synthesis recommendation information and/or reference view information. In accordance with embodiments, a method of receiving a video includes decoding a bitstream of the video based on viewing position and/or viewport information, unpacking pictures in the decoded bitstream; view regenerating the unpacked pictures; and/or view synthesizing the view regenerated pictures.

A point cloud data processing method according to embodiments may comprise a step of encoding and transmitting point cloud data, wherein said encoding comprises encoding a geometry indicating the positions of one or more points of the point cloud data, the step of encoding a geometry further comprises a step of generating an octree of the geometry, and a step of encoding attributes of the one or more points comprises the steps of: generating Morton codes of the one or more points; and rearranging the one or more points on the basis of the octree to generate one or more levels of detail (LOD). A non-pruned MVD frame is obtained and an acyclic graph representing pruning precedence relations between views is determined. The MVD is pruned by using these precedence relations. The pruned MVD and data representative of the graph are encoded in the data stream. At the decoding, the contribution of each view for a pixel of a viewport frame to generate is determined as a function of the decoded pruning graph.

In one example aspect, a method includes determining a playout group corresponding to a volumetric video in a three-dimensional space based on a playout group information, the playout group including a plurality of components, wherein each component of a certain type has a version that is different from another component of the certain type, obtaining a two-dimensional volumetric video content from a media track corresponding to the playout group, and reconstructing the volumetric video into a three-dimensional space based on the plurality of components with different versions.

A method and apparatus for decoding a video stream encoded using video point cloud coding, the decoding including obtaining a geometry-reconstructed point cloud based on one or more patches; identifying a first boundary of a patch including a plurality of first boundary points; identifying a second boundary including a plurality of second boundary points inside the first boundary; performing smoothing on the first boundary points and the second boundary points; obtaining a smoothed geometry-reconstructed point cloud based on the smoothed first boundary points and the smoothed second boundary points; and reconstructing a dynamic point cloud using the smoothed geometry-reconstructed point cloud.
