An encoder includes circuitry and memory coupled to the circuitry. The circuitry, in operation, for each coefficient of a plurality of coefficients included in a block, determines a base level relating to Context-Based Adaptive Binary Arithmetic Coding (CABAC) for the coefficient, and encodes an absolute value of the coefficient. In determining the base level, when one or more flags are used in encoding the absolute value of the coefficient, the base level is determined to be a first value, and when one or more flags are not used in the encoding, the base level is determined to be a second value that is smaller than the first value. In encoding the absolute value of the coefficient, when one or more flags are not used, a rice parameter is determined based on the base level which is equal to the second value, and the coefficient is binarized using the rice parameter.
INTRA PREDICTION MODE ENCODING/DECODING METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR SAME
Disclosed herein is an intra prediction method including: deriving neighbor prediction mode information from a left neighbor prediction mode and an upper neighbor prediction mode; deriving an intra prediction mode for a decoding target unit by using the derived neighbor prediction mode information; and performing intra prediction on the decoding target unit based on the intra prediction mode. According to exemplary embodiments of the present invention, image encoding/decoding efficiency can be improved.
Arithmetic coding for information related to sample adaptive offset processing
An image coding method includes: performing context arithmetic coding to consecutively code (i) first information indicating whether or not to perform sample adaptive offset (SAO) processing for a first region of an image and (ii) second information indicating whether or not to use, in the SAO processing for the first region, information on SAO processing for a region other than the first region, the context arithmetic coding being arithmetic coding using a variable probability, the SAO processing being offset processing on a pixel value; and performing bypass arithmetic coding to code other information which is information on the SAO processing for the first region and different from the first information or the second information, after the first information and the second information are coded, the bypass arithmetic coding being arithmetic coding using a fixed probability.
Coding adaptive multiple transform information for video coding
An example device for decoding video data includes a memory configured to store video data; and a processor implemented in circuitry and configured to decode a truncated unary codeword representing a multiple transform (MT) scheme for a current block of the video data to determine the MT scheme; apply the MT scheme to transform coefficients of the current block to produce residual data for the current block of video data; and decode the current block using the residual data. The MT scheme may include a plurality of transforms, such as a horizontal transform and a vertical transform, a primary transform and a second transform, or any combination of separable and/or non-separable transforms. Thus, a single truncated unary codeword may represent the entire MT scheme, that is, each of a plurality of transforms of the MT scheme.
Intra prediction mode encoding/decoding method and apparatus for same

Single-channel inverse mapping for image/video processing
In some embodiments, an encoder device is disclosed to generate single-channel standard dynamic range/high dynamic range content predictors. The device receives a standard dynamic range image content and a representation of a high dynamic range image content. The device determines a first mapping function to map the standard dynamic range image content to the high dynamic range image content. The device generates a single channel prediction metadata based on the first mapping function, such that a decoder device can subsequently render a predicted high dynamic range image content by applying the metadata to transform the standard dynamic range image content to the predicted high definition image content.
ESCAPE CODE CODING FOR MOTION VECTOR DIFFERENCE IN VIDEO CODING
A device for coding video data is configured to code a motion vector difference (MVD) value using a codeword prefix and a codeword suffix. Based on an absolute value, minus 2, of the MVD value being 131070 or greater, the codeword prefix of the MVD value is equal to 1111 1111 1111 1111 and the codeword suffix is coded using the fixed length code.

One example video processing method includes performing a conversion between a video including a video region and a bitstream of the video according to a rule, wherein the rule specifies that an adaptive loop filtering operation is allowed for the video region in response to an absence of one or more adaptation parameter set (APS) network abstraction layer (NAL) units that include adaptive loop filtering data.

Concepts are presented which achieve a more efficient coding of coefficients of a transform block by use of dependent quantization and context adaptive entropy coding or achieve a coding of coefficients of a transform block in a manner which allows a more efficient coding even if a usage of dependent quantization is combined with the usage of context adaptive entropy coding.
