Geolocationing system and method for use of same
A geolocationing system and method for providing awareness in a multi-space environment, such as a hospitality environment or educational environment, are presented. In one embodiment of the geolocationing system, a vertical and horizontal array of gateway devices is provided. Each gateway device includes a gateway device identification providing an accurately-known fixed location within the multi-space environment. Each gateway device includes a wireless transceiver that receives a beacon signal from a proximate wireless-enabled personal locator device. The gateway devices, in turn, send gateway signals to a server, which determines an estimated location of the wireless-enabled personal locator device.

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a method of apportioning, by a processing system including a processor, a viewable area of a display screen into a main area and an application area; downloading, by the processing system, media content; displaying, by the processing system, the media content within the main area of the display screen; extracting, by the processing system, metadata from the media content; and providing, by the processing system, the metadata to an application, wherein the application: downloads information associated with the metadata provided in the media content, applies a bitrate limit to the downloading of the information to prevent interference with the downloading of the media content, generates display content based on the information, and sends the display content for displaying within the application area of the display screen concurrently with the media content being displayed in the main area of the display screen. In-flight wireless network systems and solutions are described. According to an embodiment, the in-flight wireless network system includes a wireless router connected to one or more in-flight media servers of an aircraft and to an onboard high-speed wireless communication transceiver module. The system includes one or more strategically located wireless access points installed across the passenger cabin of the aircraft to provide connectivity to user devices and inflight data nodes, wherein each of the one or more wireless access points is powered from preinstalled Seat Electronic Box (SEB). SEBs already placed near each seat include a power supply, which can be used to power the access points.

A method for transmitting a broadcast signal, includes compressing headers of Internet Protocol (IP) packets in an IP packet stream to output a compressed IP packet stream, the compressed IP packet stream including Initialization Refresh (IR) packets, a first group of IR-dynamic packets, and compressed IP packets; extracting context information from the compressed IP packet stream, wherein when the context information is extracted only from the IR packets in the compressed IP packet stream, the IR packets are converted to a second group of IR-dynamic packets; building signaling information including the context information; and encapsulating the signaling information into one or more signaling link layer packets and the compressed IP packet stream into link layer packets that are distinct from the one or more signaling link layer packets.

An electronic device and method of operating the electronic device are provided. The electronic device includes a housing, a first connector configured to be exposed to outside of the housing and include a first number of pins, a second connector configured to be exposed to the outside of the housing and include a second number of pins, and a circuit configured to provide an electrical connection between the first number of pins and the second number of pins, wherein the first number is different from the second number, and wherein, when the first connector is connected with a first external electronic device and the second connector is connected with a second external electronic device, the circuit is configured to receive analog identification (ID) information through at least one pin among the first number of pins, and generate digital ID information at least partially based on the analog ID information so as to provide the digital ID information to at least one of the second number of pins.

Virtual Reality (VR) processing devices and methods are provided for transmitting user feedback information comprising at least one of user position information and user orientation information, receiving encoded audio-video (A/V) data, which is generated based on the transmitted user feedback information, separating the A/V data into video data and audio data corresponding to a portion of a next frame of a sequence of frames of the video data to be displayed, decoding the portion of a next frame of the video data and the corresponding audio data, providing the audio data for aural presentation and controlling the portion of the next frame of the video data to be displayed in synchronization with the corresponding audio data.
Display System and Methods
A display includes a plurality of pixel chips, chixels, provided on a substrate. The chixels and the light emitters thereon may be shaped, sized and arranged to minimize chixel, pixel, and sub-pixel gaps and to provide a seamless look between adjacent display modules. The substrate may include light manipulators, such as filters, light converters and the like to manipulate the light emitted from light emitters of the chixels. The light manipulators may be arranged to minimize chixel gaps between adjacent chixels.
Thermostat and system and method for use of same
A thermostat and system and method for use of the same are disclosed. In one embodiment, multiple wireless transceivers are located within a housing, which also interconnectively includes a processor and memory. To improve convenience, the thermostat may establish a pairing with a proximate wireless-enabled interactive programmable device having a display. Virtual remote control functionality for various amenities may then be provided. To improve safety, the thermostat may be incorporated into a geolocation and safety network.
