11496794 · 2022-11-08 · ·

Media content presentation systems and methods are operable to present media content received by a media device, wherein the media device comprises a plurality of tuner systems. An exemplary embodiment tunes the plurality of tuners to receive different broadcasting media content streams each comprising a streaming media content event; communicates the streaming media content events from the receiving tuner to a corresponding tuner buffer of the tuner system; and stores a portion of the streaming media content events into the corresponding tuner buffers. When a user selection is received for presentation of one of the streaming media content events, the selected one of the streaming media content events are presented to a user of the media device.

Video rendering system

An apparatus for improved rendering includes a number of processing channels to receive multiple input content sources and to process that input content. A compositor can composite processed input content to generate a composite output signal. An output adaptation block can adapt the composite output signal along with dynamic metadata for display by a display device. Each processing channel includes a statistics generator and an input adaptation block.

Method and system for playing digital videos on user devices

This patent disclosure provides various embodiments of a client-server based digital video playback system and technique. In one aspect, a process for playing internet/online videos on a user device is disclosed. This process can begin by sending a video playback request for playing an online video to the server, wherein the video playback request includes a device type and a browser type of the user device. Next, the process receives a set of video playback addresses and a set of video playback configuration files from the server, wherein the set of video playback addresses and the set of video playback configuration files are generated based on the device type and the browser type. The process subsequently selects a video playback address from the set of video playback addresses corresponding to a transcoded version of the online video that matches a device version and a browser version of the user device. The process next obtains the transcoded version of the online video from the selected video playback address, and plays the obtained video on the user device.

TECHNIQUES FOR ATSC 3.0 BROADCAST BOUNDARY AREA MANAGEMENT USING PLURAL TUNERS HANDING OFF BETWEEN PRESENTATION AND SCANNING

Techniques are described for expanding and/or improving the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) 3.0 television protocol in robustly delivering the next generation broadcast television services. In a boundary region between first and second broadcast stations in which a receiver can pick up signals from both stations, a primary tuner receiving signals from plural antennae presents a demanded service while a secondary tuner uses a single antenna to scan for duplicate transmissions of the service, with handing off between the tuners being effected between scanning and service presentation.

DEVICE LOCATION DETERMINATION

In overview, the disclosed methods, devices, and systems enable the location of the first device to be verified. In particular, second location verification data is generated using a current location of the second device is provided to a first device by a second device which can be matched with first location verification data received by the first device from a server, the first location verification data is generated using a stored location of the first device. If the first and second location verification data match, the location of the first device is considered to have been verified.

Progressive increase in multimedia streaming quality

A computer-implemented includes streaming a first segment of multimedia data to a buffer on a first computing device at a first bitrate, wherein the first segment includes a first set of video frames encoded at a first resolution. The computer-implemented method further includes streaming a second segment of the multimedia data to the buffer on the first computing device at a second bitrate, wherein the second segment includes a second set of video frames encoded at a second resolution. The computer-implemented method further includes determining that a first predetermined threshold is reached. The computer-implemented method further includes streaming, in response to determining that the first predetermined threshold is reached, a third segment of multimedia data to the buffer on the first computing device, wherein the third segment includes a first set of pixels that are logically related to the second set of video frames of the second segment.

SIGNAL PROCESSING DEVICE, AND IMAGE DISPLAY DEVICE COMPRISING SAME

Disclosed are a signal processing device and an image display apparatus including the same. The signal processing device comprises an equalizer configured to receive an input signal through a channel and equalize the received input signal and a control circuit configured to determine an equalizer control code in response to a first signal output from the equalizer and output the determined equalizer control code to the equalizer, wherein the equalizer may equalize the received input signal based on the equalizer control code. Accordingly, there is an effect of effectively adapting the equalizer even when a channel environment changes.

Service Switching for Content Output

Methods, systems, and computer readable media may be operable to facilitate switching the video and audio output to a different service when a current service is not presentable. When outputting content from a first service, a multimedia device may identify and switch to an output of content from a second service when the content from the first service becomes unpresentable. The multimedia device may continue to monitor the quality or presentability of the content from the first service, and the multimedia device may switch from an output of content form the second service to an output of content from the first service when the determination is made that the content from the first service is presentable.

Transmission device, transmission method, receiving device and receiving method

By a transmission method according to one aspect of the present disclosure, in a broadcasting system that generates a first broadcasting signal and a second broadcasting signal by performing multi-antenna encoding on program data, and wirelessly transmits a first broadcasting signal and a second broadcasting signal, a first transmit station transmits the first broadcasting signal, a second transmit station transmits the second broadcasting signal, the first transmit station and the second transmit station transmit the first broadcasting signal and the second broadcasting signal to an overlapping area at an identical time using an overlapping frequency band, polarized wave transmitted from the first transmit station differs from polarized wave transmitted from the second transmit station, and arrangement of the first transmit station differs from arrangement of the second transmit station.

ATSC 3 RECEPTION ACROSS BOUNDARY CONDITIONS USING LOCATION DATA

Techniques are described for expanding and/or improving the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) 3.0 television protocol in robustly delivering the next generation broadcast television services. A receiver, to automatically switch from presenting a service on a first frequency to a second frequency such as when a mobile receiver is moving through a boundary region between two broadcasters, can consider not just signal strength and error rates of two frequencies carrying the same service to select which frequency to tune to, but also relative location and direction of motion of the receiver with respect to each broadcaster.
