METHOD FOR SELECTING AUDIO OUTPUT DEVICE, AND DISPLAY APPARATUS
Disclosed are a method for selecting an audio output device and a display apparatus. The method includes: in response to a power cutoff command, saving a first device list and performing a first set of operations associated with the power cutoff command; while the display apparatus is in a power off state, receiving a power on command; in response to the power on command, performing a second set of operations associated with a power on process; in response to a first audio output device having connected with the display apparatus, determining whether a first identifier of the first audio output device is same as the identifier of the current sound output device; and in response to the first identifier of the first audio output device being same as the identifier of the current sound output device, taking the first audio output device as the current sound output device.
Media appliance
A media appliance comprising: video apparatus for outputting signals to a screen; a control device allowing a user to control the output of signals from the video apparatus to the screen, thereby selecting a viewing activity; a network interface for accessing a packet-based network; a memory storing a communication client application; and processing apparatus, coupled to the memory, network interface and video apparatus, and arranged to execute the communication client application; wherein the client application is configured so as when executed to allow the user to conduct bidirectional communications with other users via the packet-based network, and output notifications to the user of incoming communication events received from other users over the packet-based network; and wherein the client application is further configured to defer one or more of said notifications of incoming communication events received during said viewing activity, determine a delineation in the viewing activity, and automatically output the one or more notifications to the user following said delineation.
DISPLAY APPARATUS
A display apparatus transmits a picture acquisition request for getting picture information to an external image apparatus connected through a predetermined interface to the display apparatus from the external image apparatus at predetermined intervals and gets a plurality of pieces of picture information from the external image apparatus to be displayed. The plurality of pictures may be switched at predetermined intervals, for example, to be displayed, so that the plurality of pictures may be displayed in a so-called slide show manner. A plurality of pictures for thumbnail may be produced from the plurality of pieces of picture information and be arranged together to be displayed in one picture screen of a display device.
Display apparatus for managing window buffer allocation and method for controlling display apparatus
A display device includes a display, a memory, and a processor that runs at least one application on the memory and allocates a window buffer for each of the at least one application to the memory.
Display apparatus for managing window buffer allocation and method for controlling display apparatus
A display device includes a display, a memory, and a processor that runs at least one application on the memory and allocates a window buffer for each of the at least one application to the memory.
SECURE REMOTE-LESS CONFIGURATION OF A MEDIA PLAYBACK DEVICE
The present disclosure is directed to embodiments for securely reconfiguring a media playback device. For example, a method may include determining whether a media playback device is being controlled by a user. In response to determining that the media playback device is not being controlled by the user, the method may further include: causing display of a pictograph that includes an encrypted payload with information for wirelessly connecting to the media playback device and is configured to be scanned by a client device determining whether a request from the client device to wirelessly connect to the media playback device is a valid request in response to the request being valid, wirelessly connecting the client device to the media playback device via a soft access point; and receiving, at the media playback device, information for reconfiguring the media playback device.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR SHARING ENCODER OUTPUT
Embodiments described herein provide systems and methods for sharing encoder output of video streams. In a particular embodiment, a method provides determining video profiles for each of a plurality of devices. The method further provides determining if two or more of the video profiles are similar by determining if parameters associated with each video profile differ by less than a threshold value. The method further provides transmitting a video stream encoded in a single format to the devices if they have similar profiles and transmitting video streams encoded in different formats to the devices if they do not have similar profiles.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR ALERTING USERS REGARDING AVAILABILITY OF UNCONSUMED CONTENT
Methods and systems are described for a media guidance application that limits the incentive for authorized users to share content with unauthorized users, while still allowing users to access content virtually anywhere. Specifically, the media guidance application allows an authorized user to receive only a portion of a media asset that he or she is authorized to access on a different device, after a designated time period, and/or when the remaining portion of the media asset is inaccessible.
GENERATING VIDEO ON DEMAND (VOD) USING NETWORK DIGITAL VIDEO RECORDING (NDVR)
Disclosed herein are embodiments generating video on demand (VOD) using network digital video recording (NDVR). A method includes receiving a video on demand (VOD) request for generating a VOD package of a video broadcast prior to a broadcast. The method further includes retrieving electronic program guide (EPG) metadata related to the video broadcast. The method further includes sending a digital video recording (DVR) request to a network digital video recording (NDVR) system to record the video broadcast. The method further includes obtaining a video recording of the video broadcast generated by the NDVR system. The method further includes generating a VOD package of the video broadcast, the VOD package including the video recording, and VOD metadata of the video recording. The method further includes sending the VOD package of the video broadcast toward a VOD system to distribute the VOD package.
