10694672 · 2020-06-30 ·

Systems and methods for using interchangeable tool attachments in multi-use tools. In one embodiment, a multi-use tool includes a motor, a shaft and a shaft adapter at the end of the shaft. The motor has user controls (e.g., on/off switch or throttle) that control the motor to drive the shaft and cause it to rotate. The shaft may include a rigid tubular outer member with a flexible inner shaft. The shaft adapter is coupled to the end of the rotating portion of the shaft. The shaft adapter has a mounting flange that rotates with the adapter at the end of the shaft. An interchangeable tool attachment is secured to the mounting flange, and rotation of the shaft adapter and mounting flange causes the tool attachment to rotate as well. Many different tool attachments can be interchangeably secured to the mounting flange to provide corresponding, different functions to the tool.

A line blade for a rotating trimmer includes a loading section securable for rotation on a cutting plane with a head of the rotating trimmer. A living hinge extends from the loading section. A transition section extends from the living hinge and has a first cross-sectional shape. The first cross-sectional shape is configured and oriented to reduce drag. A cutting segment extending from the transition section has a second cross-sectional shape that is different from the first cross-sectional shape of the transition section, where the second cross-sectional shape is configured and oriented for cutting vegetation. The multi-zone line blade improves cutting at lower speeds, thereby requiring less power.

A line loader system for a rotating trimmer head includes a channel defined in the rotating trimmer head and having an entry slot, a curved track, and an outlet slot, a locking cleat formed in the rotating trimmer head adjacent the outlet slot, and a flexible line blade positionable and snap-lockable in the channel in a use position. The flexible line blade has a spade at a leading end and a neck adjacent the spade, where a width of the neck is narrower than a width of the locking cleat such that as the spade is positioned through the outlet slot past the locking cleat, the neck engages the locking cleat. With the described system, no mechanical devices are needed to secure the line blades, and no tools are required for installation or removal.

Line Trimmer and Shredder Apparatus

The invention is a multi-tiered line trimmer and shredder apparatus using a number of individual pre-molded or pre-cut nail head string lines. Whenever the engine or motor is running, the apparatus rotates the nail head string lines generating cutting power designed to utilize multiple functions, such as trimming grass or weeds, clearing vegetation by shredding or mulching it, or removing snow. The apparatus consists of a base, cylindrical body, nail head string lines, and cover. The base attaches to a drive shaft or directly to an engine or motor. The cylindrical body is hollow, has holes throughout its wall that may be the same or variable sizes. The nail head string lines are inserted into the holes. The cover is used to cover the cylinder body, and to secure the nail head portion of the nail head string lines within the cylindrical body while the apparatus is in use.

HEAD FOR A HEDGE TRIMMER
20200045881 · 2020-02-13 ·

A head (1) for a hedge trimmer comprising a main body (2), having a disc-shaped conformation, which can be connected to a drive shaft of a hedge trimmer to be placed in rotation about an axis of rotation (X). The main body (2) has at least one pair of primary seats (5) and one pair of secondary seats (6), each primary seat (5a) of the pair of primary seats (5) and each secondary seat (6a) of the pair of secondary seats (6) is a through seat. The pair of primary seats (5) is adapted to house a primary segment (S1) realised with a first cutting wire and arranged in a U-shaped arrangement between the primary seats (5a). The pair of secondary seats (6) is adapted to house a secondary segment (S2) realised with a second cutting wire and arranged in a U-shaped arrangement between the secondary seats (6a). Each primary seat (5a) of the pair of primary seats (5) has a primary transverse dimension (D1) and each secondary seat (6a) of the pair of secondary seats (6) has a secondary transverse dimension (D2).

STRING REEL FOR A STRING TRIMMER, AND STRING TRIMMER CUTTING HEAD EQUIPPED WITH SUCH A STRING REEL OR IN THE FORM OF SUCH A STRING REEL

The invention is concerned with a string reel (1) for being mounted on a cutting head of a string trimmer in a rotatable manner in mowing operation.

The string reel (1) is constructed as an exchangeable wearing part, onto which a number of mowing string strands (2) is wound up, for example two mowing string strands (2), so that in mowing operation each free thread end is pulled radially outwards by centrifugal force and the piece of thread pulled outwards by the rotary movement in mowing operation and located at the free thread end can knock off plant stalks. The mowing string strands (2) have a greater length than the respective thread piece pulled outwards in mowing operation at the free thread end, so that the number of mowing string strands (2) can be pulled out at the free thread end after wear of the thread piece. At least one of the number of mowing string strands (2) has a different appearance in a normal consumption section (3) extending starting from the free end of the respective mowing string strand than in a reserve section (5) which can only subsequently be pulled out and is located closer to the connection point to the string reel (1), wherein the at least one of the number of mowing string strands (2) in a warning section (4) situated between its normal consumption section (3) and its reserve section (5) has a different appearance than in its normal consumption section (3) and in its reserve section (5).

Cutting web

Systems and methods for cutting grass and other materials using a disk-shaped cutting web are disclosed. The cutting web has a center portion that is attachable to a rotating shaft adapter. The center portion may be a solid annular disk having a keyed aperture that allows it to be mounted on a spindle of a rotating shaft adapter. The cutting web has multiple strings that are connected to the center portion and extend outward from it in a generally radial direction (away from the center of the disk). The strings intersect with each other to form junctions at which they are joined, thereby forming a web that can be rotated at high speed to perform a cutting function. The strings of the web can have sharp or serrated edges and may be colored to increase the visibility of the web.

The present invention is a device for cutting and mulching vegetation into consistently small uniform pieces by using a number of cutter cords that rotate in a circular plane of rotation with decreasing diameters as the position of the cutting wire is further from the power means. This design causes the grass to be sequentially cut into small confetti like pieces as the mowing machine moves forward.
