A smart device is provided with a main remote control application that may be configured using information obtained from a QR code. The main remote control application may present images of original remote controls corresponding to devices which are controllable by the configured main remote control application. In connection with a presented image of an original remote control, the display may present icons that are representative of a subset of the buttons of the original remote control. The user interface also allows a user to select amongst the images of the original remote controls to change which appliances are to be controlled via the user interface. A pop-up remote control widget may also be provided which may be invoked without switching to the main remote control application provisioned on the smart device.

A signal processing device and an image display apparatus including the same are disclosed. The signal processing device includes a scaler configured to scale input images of various resolutions to a first resolution, a resolution enhancement processor configured to perform learning on the input images and to output a residual image of the first resolution, and an image output interface configured to output an output image of the first resolution based on a scaling image from the scaler and the residual image from the resolution enhancement processor, and the image output interface changes a weight and an application strength of the residual image according to the area of the input image.
HEAD-MOUNTABLE DISPLAY SYSTEMS AND METHODS
A system includes one or more sensors to detect one or more properties for a current user wearing a head-mountable display (HMD), control circuitry to select a user profile from a plurality of stored user profiles in dependence upon one or more of the detected properties, where each stored user profile is associated with a respective user and includes data indicative of one or more reference properties for the respective user, where the selected user profile includes data indicative of at least one reference property that is substantially the same as at least one of the one or more of the detected properties, and processing circuitry to generate at least one of audio and video content for output by the HMD in dependence upon the selected user profile and in response to the selection of the user profile.

Provided are display apparatuses. A display apparatus includes: a display, and a controller connected to the display, the controller is configured to: display a first interface on the display; in response to no operation for the first interface reaching a first time threshold, create a screensaver display interface by a screensaver application in the display apparatus, where the screensaver display interface is transparent with respect to the first interface; present the screensaver display interface on the display without blocking the first interface presented on the display; create a screensaver view comprising a plurality of screensaver interfaces by the screensaver application; and present the first screensaver interface in the screensaver view on the screensaver display interface to block the first interface, where the first access entry and the first presentation material are visible for a user and the first access entry is available for selection by the user.

BURN-IN CONTENT SIGNALING MECHANISM FOR AVOIDING TEXT OVERLAP
An encoder for use with video data, first supplemental data, second supplemental data, and a display device. The encoder includes: a memory; and a processor configured to execute instructions stored on the memory to cause the encoder to: generate modified video data based on an incorporation of the first supplemental data into the video data such that the supplemental video will be displayed at a predetermined location when the modified video is displayed on the display device; generate metadata associated with the predetermined location; generate an encoded transport stream including the modified video data, the metadata and the second supplemental data; and transmit the encoded transport stream to the display device so as to enable the display device to decode the encoded transport stream and display the modified video and the second supplemental video such that the second supplemental video is not displayed at the predetermined location.
Automated video cropping
The disclosed computer-implemented method may include receiving, as an input, segmented video scenes, where each video scene includes a specified length of video content. The method may further include scanning the video scenes to identify objects within the video scene and also determining a relative importance value for the identified objects. The relative importance value may include an indication of which objects are to be included in a cropped version of the video scene. The method may also include generating a video crop that is to be applied to the video scene such that the resulting cropped version of the video scene includes those identified objects that are to be included based on the relative importance value. The method may also include applying the generated video crop to the video scene to produce the cropped version of the video scene. Various other methods, systems, and computer-readable media are also disclosed.
Systems and methods for providing media based on a detected language being spoken
Various embodiments provide media based on a detected language being spoken. In one embodiment, the system electronically detects which language of a plurality of languages is being spoken by a user, such during a conversation or while giving a voice command to the television. Based on which language of a plurality of languages is being spoken by the user, the system electronically presents media to the user that is in the detected language. For example, the media may be television channels and/or programs that are in the detected language and/or a program guide, such as a pop-up menu, including such media that are in the detected language.
Systems and methods to implement preferred subtitle constructs
Systems and methods are provided for applying attributes to subtitles. One example method includes accessing a subtitle file, wherein the subtitle file comprises one or more subtitles, and identifying an attribute to apply to at least a subset of the subtitles. The subtitle file is amended indicate an attribute to apply to at least a subset of the subtitles to create an amended subtitle file. At a computing device, the subtitles of the amended subtitle file are generated for display, wherein the attribute is applied to the subset of the subtitles.
