Method and System for Delivery of Content Over Communication Networks
Systems and methods are provided for providing content to a user via communications between a content provider and a user Systems and methods include providing a plurality of pre-existing content items to a system; and using the system, controlling transmission of sub-portions of content to a user presentation device based on received control signals, said controlling including generating dynamic content as a result of received control signals and user created content received from the user, where said controlling further includes detecting that particular user created content is irrelevant, generating the dynamic content based on a determination that the particular user created content is irrelevant, and editing the dynamic content to incorporate the particular user created content despite the particular user created content being deemed irrelevant.
SWITCHED MULTICAST VIDEO STREAMING
A system and method for improving media delivery and display. By utilizing a memory buffer in a DVR or similar device, and broadcasting linear content at a rate other than 1?, services like video on demand or regular broadcasters can be more versatile. For example viewers can start over without launching a separate VOD session. If part of the linear content requested is not in the buffer, a switched multicast stream can be sent to with the proper section of content. Other receivers on the network may also receive the stream and buffer the content if the content is related to what a viewer is viewing.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ENHANCED MULTIMEDIA SIGNAL BROADCAST, RECEPTION, DATA DELIVERY, AND DATA COLLECTION
New systems and methods allow for transmission of multiple types of content protocols over a unidirectional content delivery network, such as a television broadcast. Hardware and/or software used at the network transmission location (such as a television broadcast station) and hardware and/or software located at an endpoint (such as a home television, car infotainment system, or first responder location) allow for a native ATSC 1.0 signal to have embedded within it additional content that is not encoded as ATSC 1.0 content. The non-ATSC 1.0 content can be detected and segregated from ATSC 1.0 content so that the endpoint devices (such as a television receiver) will not attempt to render the non-ATSC 1.0 content (such as, e.g., ATSC 3.0 content or application specific content) as normal ATSC 1.0 programming. Instead, the non-ATSC 1.0 content will be separately decoded, assembled, and processed to allow for multiple types of content to be used and displayed by the endpoint, even though the broadcast signal was transmitted only

DELIVERING AND MONITORING EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM (EAS) MEDIA FILES VIA ROUTER COMPUTING DEVICES USING REDIRECTION RESPONSES
Delivery and monitoring of Emergency Alert System (EAS) media files via router computing devices using redirection responses is disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a router computing device receives an EAS notification from a server computing device. The EAS notification received by the router computing device includes an EAS media file manifest Universal Resource Locator (URL) of an EAS media file to be pushed to subscribers. Upon receiving the EAS notification, the router computing device intercepts an Internet Protocol (IP) streaming content request from a client computing device that is communicatively coupled to the router computing device, and transmits a redirection response message that includes the EAS media file manifest URL to the client computing device. Upon receiving the redirection response message from the router computing device, the client computing device is redirected from any currently streaming media to the EAS media file manifest URL.
Automatic detection of a cable trap
Firmware is installed in a cable modem, enabling detection of the presence or absence of a cable trap in the feed of a customer location. Such a cable modem includes a trap-detection module and a trap-detection object. The trap-detection module is configured to determine whether a signal is present at a cable-television frequency. The trap-detection object is configured to store data as to whether the signal is present and support polling by providing the stored data in response to a received polling command.
Voice command integration for local network connected devices
Various arrangements for facilitating smart television content receivers in a local network are provided. In an example, a secondary television receiver receives audio data, converts the audio data into voice command data, and transmits the voice command data to a primary television receiver. In response, the primary television receiver transmits the voice command data to a voice processing server via the Internet, receives a command generated based on the voice command data, and transmits the command to the secondary television receiver. Based on the command, an operation of the secondary television receiver is controlled.
Use of wait period to obtain on-demand system information for wireless networks
According to an example implementation, a method may include transmitting, by a user device to a base station in a wireless network, a system information request for on-demand system information during a random access procedure, where the system information request is a request for one or more parameters that enable the user device to communicate in the wireless network, receiving, by the user device from the base station, an indication of a wait period in which the user device waits before obtaining the on-demand system information, waiting, by the user device, a time duration during the wait period, and monitoring, by the user device after expiration of the wait period, a system information window in which a system information message having the on-demand system information is broadcasted by the base station.
Video production system with dynamic character generator output
In one aspect, an example method includes (i) accessing a first set of ordered content items and a second set of active/inactive status attributes; (ii) identifying a subset of the first set based on each content item of the subset corresponding to an active status attribute in the second set; (iii) using the content items of the identified subset to generate video content that includes the content items of the identified subset, as ordered in the first set; (iv) determining that a particular content item of the first set satisfies a condition, wherein the particular content item corresponds to a particular active/inactive status attribute of the second set; (v) based on the determination, modifying the particular active/inactive status attribute; and (vi) after modifying the particular active/inactive status attribute, repeating the identifying and using acts, thereby causing modification of the generated video content.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR FACILITATING STREAMING IN A LOCAL NETWORK WITH MULTIPLE SUBNETS
Systems, methods, and non-transitory, machine-readable media to facilitate streaming in a local network are disclosed. A primary media device may be configured to: operate as a server in a local network, receive audio/video (A/V) content, and provide the A/V content to a first display. A secondary media device may be communicatively connected to the primary media device and may be configured to: operate as a client with respect to the primary media device in the local network, receive the A/V content from the primary media device, and provide the A/V content to a second display. The primary media device and the secondary media device may use multiple subnets in the local network. The primary media device and/or the secondary media device may select a first subnet of the multiple subnets to use based at least in part on a type of content to communicate via the first subnet.
