A server receives, from a first display device of a first user, first content data, first sensor data, and a request for assistance identifying a context of the first display device. The server identifies a second display device of a second user based on the context of the first display device. The server receives second content data and second sensor data from the second display device. The first content data is synchronized with the second content data based on the first and second sensor data. Playback parameters are formed based on the context of the first display device. An enhanced playback session is generated using the synchronized first and second content data in response to determining that the first sensor data meet the playback parameters. The enhanced playback session is communicated to the first display device.

CONTENT DISTRIBUTION AND ENCODER TESTING TECHNIQUES
20170272831 · 2017-09-21 ·

According to one configuration, to test an encoder resource, a user controls operation of both a mobile communication device and a corresponding video management device. For example, the user inputs a command to a test control application executing on the mobile communication device to test encoding of content by the encoder resource. In response to receiving the input command to test a target encoder resource, the test control application on the mobile communication device transmits video information from the mobile communication device to in the video management device. The video management device processes the video information received from the mobile communication device. Using the video information, the video management device derives and outputs a corresponding coded video stream to the encoder resource under test. As its name suggests, the encoder resource encodes the received video stream and transmits it over an assigned channel in a shared communication link.

System and method for conditional access in an in-home network based on multi-network communication

One or more circuits for use in a transceiver that is collocated with a satellite dish, may receive a satellite signal carrying media content, and remove content protection from the received media content. After removing the first content protection, the one or more circuits may apply second content protection to the media content. The content protection applied by the one or more circuits may adhere to a different protocol, utilize different keys, and/or otherwise be distinguishable from the content protection that was removed. After applying the content protection, the one or more circuits may transmit the media content onto one or more links between the satellite dish and one or more client devices. The removal of the content protection may comprise descrambling and/or decrypting the media content. The application of the content protection may comprise scrambling and/or encrypting the media content.

METHOD AND A SYSTEM FOR USING A COMPUTERIZED SOURCE DEVICE WITHIN THE VIRTUAL ENVIRONMENT OF A HEAD MOUNTED DEVICE
20170272838 · 2017-09-21 ·

A method for allowing/supporting the usage of a computerized source device within a simulated virtual environment produced by a head mounted device associated with at least one processor. The method includes presenting at least one icon of at least one identified available source device within the virtual reality environment simulated by the head mounted device, enabling the user to select at least one icon using an applicable GUI interface at the head mounted device and projecting a 3D object which has at least one surface which displays the mirrored 2D image of the source device within the simulated virtual reality environment.

Gateway for Transporting Out-Of-Band Messaging Signals

A Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS) having a gateway configured to output signals on over data tunnels for transfer over a cable network to Customer Premises Equipment (CPE). Each data tunnel is preferably characterized as a one-way data stream of out-of-band (OOB) messaging signals.

DELIVERING AND MONITORING EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM (EAS) MEDIA FILES VIA ROUTER COMPUTING DEVICES USING REDIRECTION RESPONSES
20210375122 · 2021-12-02 ·

Delivery and monitoring of Emergency Alert System (EAS) media files via router computing devices using redirection responses is disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a router computing device receives an EAS notification from a server computing device. The EAS notification received by the router computing device includes an EAS media file manifest Universal Resource Locator (URL) of an EAS media file to be pushed to subscribers. Upon receiving the EAS notification, the router computing device intercepts an Internet Protocol (IP) streaming content request from a client computing device that is communicatively coupled to the router computing device, and transmits a redirection response message that includes the EAS media file manifest URL to the client computing device. Upon receiving the redirection response message from the router computing device, the client computing device is redirected from any currently streaming media to the EAS media file manifest URL.

Frame conversion for adaptive streaming alignment

Methods for generating an AV bitstream (e.g., an MPEG-2 transport stream or bitstream segment having adaptive streaming format) such that the AV bitstream includes at least one video I-frame synchronized with at least one audio I-frame, e.g., including by re-authoring at least one video or audio frame (as a re-authored I-frame or a re-authored P-frame). Typically, a segment of content of the AV bitstream which includes the re-authored frame starts with an I-frame and includes at least one subsequent P-frame. Other aspects are methods for adapting such an AV bitstream, audio/video processing units configured to perform any embodiment of the inventive method, and audio/video processing units which include a buffer memory which stores at least one segment of an AV bitstream generated in accordance with any embodiment of the inventive method.

TRANSMISSION APPARATUS AND RECEPTION APPARATUS FOR PARALLEL DATA STREAMS

The present invention relates to a transmission apparatus and reception apparatus for parallel data streams. The present specification discloses a wireless stream transmission apparatus comprising: an encoder for dividing an inputted picture into multiple areas and performing, for each area, encoding so as to generate a bitstream including a header and data; a DS generating unit for removing or modifying at least a portion of headers related to the multiple areas into compact headers, and combining, with the data, at least the remaining headers which have not been removed or the compact headers so as to generate a data stream for each area; and a communication unit for packing the data stream so as to generate a packet, and transmitting, on the basis of wireless communication, the packet to a wireless stream reception apparatus. By using modified headers in applications where real time is important, it is possible to reduce a traffic burden and satisfy low-latency requirements.
