System and method for permitting use of content using transfer rights
Apparatus, method, and media for permitting use of content. An exemplary method comprises associating a transfer right with content, the transfer right specifying that the content is permitted to be transferred from a first computing device to a second computing device, transferring the content from the first computing device to the second computing device in accordance with the transfer right, updating information associated with the transfer right based on the transfer of the content from the first computing device to the second computing device, and associating a usage right with the content, the usage right corresponding to a utilization of the content, wherein the first computing device includes at least a server mode of operation, and wherein the second computing device includes both a requester mode of operation and a server mode of operation.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MANAGING CONTENT DISTRIBUTION TO AN IN-TRANSIT MEDIA SYSTEM
Embodiments relate to methods and systems for managing media content distribution rights to a media client on a craft to ensure that the distribution of media content items is consistent with media content distribution rights.
File delivery over a broadcast network using file system abstraction, broadcast schedule messages and selective reception
Methods provide mechanisms for efficiently delivering files over a broadcast system to mobile devices. Files for broadcast may be logically identified as belonging to a directory in a file system. A Broadcast Schedule Message may inform receiver devices of files that will be broadcast at a specified time, as well as describe the files. File may be transmitted in file delivery pipes, which may be of different bandwidth and data rates. Receiver devices configured according to the embodiments may make use of the broadcast schedule message to select files to be received based on the service or application with which the file is associated, and whether the file is new or an update to a previously received file. Receiver devices activate receiver circuitry to capture the files within their advertised broadcast window, and pass the files to be broadcast to applications or services requesting the files.

Image metadata creation for improved image processing and content delivery
Several embodiments of a media processor for the creation of metadata from a set of images are given. The media processor receives a set of image data and computes metadata from the image data. The metadata may comprise statistical data based on the image data; from which the media processor may generate and store a multi-scale version of the metadata. The metadata may comprise statistical attributes derived directly from the image data or statistical attributes derived from image appearance correlates of the image data. The media processor may generate a subsampled set of the metadata and the subsampled set may be stored in an efficient data structure, such as a pyramidal structure. The pyramidal structure may be generated from spatial image information, from temporal image information or from spatial-temporal image information.

METHODS AND APPARATUS TO PROVIDE CONTENT ON DEMAND IN CONTENT BROADCAST SYSTEMS
Methods and apparatus to provide content on demand in content broadcast systems are disclosed. An example method comprises receiving a first portion of a program via broadcast signal and receiving a second portion of the program via an Internet protocol (IP) based signal. The example method may further comprise combining the first and the second portions and at least one of store the combined first and second portions in a file or playback the combined first and second portions.

System and method for opaque metadata transmission
According to one embodiment, a content distribution method includes: generating a security identifier associated with content; storing the security identifier to be associated with metadata related to the content; providing the content and the security identifier to a receiving entity; and receiving a metadata request from the receiving entity, wherein the metadata request corresponds to the metadata related to the content.
