The video stream is displayed as a video in a window on a device display along with a link. The link includes a webpage uniform resource locator (URL). A selection of the link made by a user is received. The selection is made in response to a call to action. The video is rendered along with results of the link that was selected. Rendering of the results of the link includes a webpage associated with the webpage URL. The user can interact with the webpage while the video is being rendered. The video is reduced to render the video as a reduced video on a portion of the device display. The rendering the reduced video and webpage is accomplished without a popup window.

The method can include receiving a selection of a predetermined template, in which the template comprising a plurality of modules organized in a tree structure. The method can further include organizing the video content into the predetermined template to form organized video content, and embedding an object in a portion of the organized video content to form an interactive video, in which the object is based on the received data and is configured to enable at least one of: (i) user interaction with the physical item; or (ii) a link to a webpage associated with the physical item.

A computing device performs different actions depending on which ones of the hidden artifacts the user is able to find. For example, the computing device can provide different rewards to the user depending on which ones of the hidden artifacts the user is able to find.

The present invention is a method and system for generation and playback of supplemented videos which include interactive features. The supplemented video includes hotspots that allow a video viewer to interact with the video when the video viewer sees an object. The hotspots can be manually defined. Information regarding the object and the hotspot can be stored in a separate XML file. Furthermore, the present invention can be a marketplace where a desired object can be found by searching the XML file. The search results can list the supplemented videos which contain hotspots corresponding to the object and also the time in the supplemented video in which the object is found. The present invention can also aggregate data about the objects based on the playback of the supplemented videos and the video viewer's interaction with the supplemented videos.

Systems and processes are disclosed for controlling television user interactions using a virtual assistant. In an example process, a virtual assistant can interact with a television set-top box to control content shown on a television display. Speech input for the virtual assistant can be received from a device with a microphone. The speech input can comprise a query associated with content shown on the television display. A user intent of the query can be determined based on one or more of the content shown on the television display and a viewing history of media content. A result of the query can be caused to be displayed based on the determined user intent.

A method and apparatus for performing an integrated search is provided. An interface is provided that allows users to search and select any data related to a searchable term. Searchable terms may comprise titles of content, actors, and tags. Upon receiving results from the initial search, the user progresses through the initial search by selecting a result from the initial search and conducting a further search of that selection. The search may progress through many layers of searching in order to find information useful to the user and the user may perform actions based upon results of the search. The search implements a display with two columns, the first column displaying selectable data, and the second column displaying results to the selected data. The search is further customizable based upon a privacy level selected by the user.

A shared media streaming system is configured to allow audience members of a movie screening or other live event to view that event via a user device such as a personal smartphone if they exit the area of the live event to visit a concession area or restroom. The shared media stream begins displaying the film on the user device starting at the same moment that the request to stream was made so that the user may leave and return to the screening room without missing substantial portions of the film, and without re-watching already viewed portions of the film. Viewing is limited to particular geofenced areas within a theater, and is limited in time so that users must return to the screening room if they wish to continue watching the film beyond the limited time. Other limitations are also enforced to prevent misuse of the system.

GROUP TELEVISED CONTENT VIEWING INTERACTIONS

Various arrangements for group-based content viewing are presented herein. A television service provider system may receive wager data corresponding to a live content event for multiple user accounts that are grouped together. A viewing group for the live content event may be created for the grouped user accounts. Wager data corresponding to the user accounts may be transmitted to content viewing devices for the multiple user accounts. The live content event can be output for presentation concurrently with presentation of an indication of the at least one wager on the live content event linked to each user account.
