Automated camera mode selection

A camera mode to use for capturing an image or video is selected by estimating high dynamic range (HDR), motion, and light intensity with respect to a scene of the image or video to capture. An image capture device includes a HDR estimation unit to detect whether HDR is present in a scene of an image to capture, a motion estimation unit to determine whether motion is detected within the scene, and a light intensity estimation unit to determine whether a scene luminance for the scene meets a threshold. A mode selection unit selects a camera mode to use for capturing the image based on output of the HDR estimation unit, the motion estimation unit, and the light intensity estimation unit. An image sensor captures the image according to the selected camera mode.

A method and apparatus for capturing digital video includes displaying a preview of a field of view of the imaging device in a user interface of the imaging device. A sequence of images is captured. A main subject and a background in the sequence of images is determined, wherein the main subject is different than the background. A sequence of modified images for use in a final video is obtained, wherein each modified image is obtained by combining two or more images of the sequence of images such that the main subject in the modified image is blur free and the background is blurred. The sequence of modified images is combined to obtain the final video, which is stored in a memory of the imaging device, and displayed in the user interface.

Image selection method and related product

A method for image selection applied to a mobile terminal including a camera may include: acquiring image information of a first image, the image information of the first image comprising a first acceleration value of the mobile terminal in response to the camera capturing the first image, the first image being any one of at least two images successively captured by the camera; and determining that the first image satisfies a multi-frame denoising processing condition in response to the first acceleration value being smaller than a preset acceleration threshold.

Statistics-based electronic image stabilization

Methods and apparatus, including computer program products, for selecting a cropping area in a sequence of images captured by a camera. First external motion data including data of external factors affecting movement of the camera is correlated with internal motion data describing a movement of the camera. The first external motion data and the internal motion data are obtained during a first time interval. Second external motion data is obtained during a second time interval subsequent to the first time interval. A sequence of images being captured during a third time interval is stabilized by selecting a cropping area based on the correlation and the second external motion data. The cropping area remains constant and maximized in size with respect to the field of view of the images during the third time interval. The third time interval is subsequent to, or partly overlapping with, the second time interval.

Various methods and systems are provided for image processing for multiple cameras. In one embodiment, a method comprises acquiring a plurality of image frames from each image frame source of a plurality of image frame sources, each plurality of image frames acquired at a first frame rate, combining the plurality of image frames from each image frame source into a single plurality of image frames with a second frame rate higher than the first frame rate, and outputting the single plurality of image frames as a video. In this way, high-frame-rate video may be obtained with multiple low-frame-rate image frame sources or cameras.

High speed continuously adaptive focus and deblur

Image data from a camera is used to identify one or more items in a dynamic field of view for item identification and tracking. The camera focus setting may be adjusted to different depth of field based on estimated distances to the items within the image data. After adjusting the focus setting, additional image data may be collected to capture a sharper image of the item and ensure sufficient clarity for item recognition based on item identifiers visible on the items within the image data.
